Thread: A connection attempt failed.

I have a problem when I try to launch te game (and I never had any problem before)

When you have the screen "Game Update Progress:" (at the very beginning)
It won't connect, and it just retry every minute.

And then you see a message below.
An update error occurred:
A connection attempt failed.


I already tried to restart my laptop and also restarting the modem.
So I don't know if that is the problem, cause I can browse on the internet.
BUT I CAN'T PLAY ANY ONLINE GAME

So does somebody know what the problem can be, and how it can be solved?

There was indeed a problem with my Firewall (however I didn't changed anything recently)
And now I can play other games again.
But I still can't connect with Lotro. (Even when I turn the firewall off)

So I did all the other steps the topic says to do. But the launcher even won't connect when I do the 'clean boot'.

But is it possible that there are some files lost or damaged, so it can't connect. Then I guess I need to remove and download the game again.

EDIT: I didn't did step 2 fully cause I thought that wasn't the probleme (cause I can enter this site etc.)
But Internet Explorerer isn't working (I was using Firefox)

So I did these steps ... and I just see that the 'use a proxy sever' was enabled'

And it WORKS!!!!!!!!!!

And it was a bit stupid to overlook that (so it wasn't necessary to reinstal a few programs, reboot my laptop that much, ...)

but it's still weird ... cause I didn't changed anything these days ...
