Thread: Back after over two years - my impressions

I played LOTRO when it first came out for a few years, I quit after I graduated college and started a full time job but have recently resubbed for 3 months.

My impressions coming back (after playing several other games as well, including WoW) is that I really did not value the LOTRO community as much when I initially played, it's a great group of people. I also love the look and feel of the world, characters, and all the tools given to perpetuate RP. The simple fact that my hunter can start a campfire that regenerates health/mana is incredible, it combines role playing aspects with actual game utility.

My only gripe coming back is the UI. The user interface does not match the game world at all. Everything from the login screen to actual windows and UI icons in the game are very cartoony. I'd much rather prefer a clean, solid, fantasy look.

Also, I wish there was a way to disable to LOTRO store. I'm never going to buy anything from there, and it makes me feel like I'm playing a gold farmer type game when all those advertisements for buying stuff pops up.

Aside from the UI, this game is awesome and I hope to enjoy it again.

As i noticed, you are interested for RP, if thats the case then i highly suggest you, to at least try out the Official Roleplay Server Laurelin-[RP] and have a look at its RP webportal Laurelin Archives to get a quick idea of the RP community here and the RP that is going on, in general

You are playing a gold farmer type game. Turbine is collecting the gold in the form of real world dollars. lol... That's why the store button is there and all the advertisements. Everything about F2P is geared towards making you spend dollars on the game.

Beyond that, it really is an excellent game.
