Its over 100 here for the fifth day in a row. there is a real danger of major crop damage due to the drought. Keep your fingers crossed for the midwest, we need cooler weather and rain. lots of it.
Hope everyone has a good weekend.
Del, good luck with the move.

Oklahoma is in the same boat, Doc. We are breaking temperature and drought records left and right. I rushed out to mow this morning in 85 degree heat, because it is likely to be triple digits until after dark. Ugh.
In the good news department, though, the yard is done, we scored a good, sturdy workbench table from the neighbors for free, and I told the girls to leave me alone and got to take a Hollywood shower. (Anyone get that book reference?)
Off to the grocery, then putting a roast on for dinner and maybe hopping in the pool.
Hope Saturday is treating everyone well!

I want to get the reference, but I don't,..hehe..does it involve you singing "Look for the Silver Lining" into the detachable showerhead? : )

Beat the HEat! Actually, it didn't feel as hot as I thought it would.
I forced me and the wifie to hit the streets of Brooklyn and spent the entire afternoon walking and sweating to get some exercise and vitamin D. Yes,.this vampire shys from such activity but it's for the greater good!
Probably a good 5-6 miles total. Trying to stay in the shade as much as possible. Seeking the Flea Markets,...always seeking,..
Tomorrow we plan to go back, but to a different area to check out those neighborhoods. Maybe Williamsburg, so I can mock the hipsters,
Anyways,..I am avoiding the new Spiderman movie,...but I may check out the pretentious MoonRise Kingdom there as it is fitting.
I'll make a podcast about it. j/k
Get those fishies cooled,..er..warmed?! BDR !

EDIT: PS , Gweann,...that Garland clip is from 'Till the Clouds Roll by". I own the VHS and DVD.,..but the clip is missing what's before it. It's a great scene where Judy enters looking beautiful for her performance and the make-up people begin to dirty her up like nothing. And we're like,..what's going on!? Turns out it is for this washing the dishes scene just sharing,..!

Hey Folks. Hope you're coping with the heat. We're enjoying our first real sustained taste of summer up here. Finally temperatures in the high 20s low 30s (celsius) -- Not as hot or as sustained as you folk so hope you get some cooler temperatures soon. But we are enjoying the warmth here that's for sure.
Helped a friend move this morning, then began digging out the old garden beds this afternoon where we want to extend our deck. d'oh I'm tired! Ended the evening with a cold beverage and bbq'd salmon - that made it worthwhile!
I am sipping coffee and surfing the 'net early this morning because I awoke when the hubby did. He has to be at work at 5am. Ugh.
The temp here today is not supposed to hit triple digits, and the next week's forecast is calling for sightly cooler temps and chances of rain. I am glad I got the yard mowed yesterday.
I am looking forward to today. Not for any particular reason, but the morning has been cool, quiet, and pleasant. It will get chaotic later, but perhaps the morning's peace will help me deal with the chaos.
Oh, and the book reference from yesterday is something I picked up from reading "The Hunt for Red October". Because they were on a sub, and fresh water resources were limited, shower time was closely monitored. The captain of the USS Dallas rewarded exceptional performance with a "Hollywood shower", meaning unlimited and uninterrupted.
Ok, time to log in and continue my obsessive--I mean, focused--pursuit of the meta-deed rep horse for Eriador.

This morning I woke up after the hubby and he thought he'd surprise me with making coffee. He sure did as I had already filled the pot and filter, and set it on automatic start. Needless to say there was an extra pot of coffee on the counter, dripping down the cabinets and into the dishwasher and floor. /facepalm, but he meant well and we're all cleaned up now.
Hubby is making progress but has to visit the witch doctor next month for a visit and another MRI to check his spine. I dread seeing this demon heifer, I really do. But he needs to be released from her care, which I hope this visit will do. Yesterday he got his official "I'm gonna be fun going through airports, courthouses and metal detectors" card!
Thankfully we're not going to reach triple digit heat today, but still be way too hot. I hope we get some rain soon.
But we're doing good here and I hope everyone else is doing very well also.
Waffle house for breakfast, then I'm off to church.
Morning everyone!
I skipped the branch clearing yesterday, because the heat index was up over 110. I did help the new tenant move in. I feel pretty good about this one, he was very thorough in looking at the house, came to view it three times and drove through the neighborhood a few times. His parents hleped him move in his furniture, and he paid a security depoist along with the first months rent. I also verified his employment and ran a background check which came back clean.
There are two people interested in the smaller room. We will see if those pan out. I have had more scammers contact me than legitimate potential tenants.
I spoke with a biochemist at the baseball game last week who also happens to be a pre-vet program advisor at the local private college. He says that I really need to get through calculus despite what the veterinary school requirements say. I need to take a placment test tomorrow. I havent had a legitimate math course in over a decade, so we will see how that goes.
Sorry for the double post. i cut the last one short because there were some musicians in the waffle house who played us some music.
The dog park in town is finally open, but it is too hot for Emma to go out. There is a wine festival saturday that is all about dogs (and wine...). I may bring her out there if I can find some other people to go with me. I bought Emma a jacket that you soak in water which then slowly evaporats and simulates sweating. Fun fact dogs do in fact sweat, but only through the pads on their feet.
I am falling far behind on my yard maintenance. There is a nusiance bush that is popping up and through all of my other shrubberies. i feel like I need a Knight Who Says Ni to assist me in cleanup.
I remember the hollywood showers now Momma G. This past week without power reminded me a little of my time in Iraq. I had water to shower with, but the heater obviously was on strike. One of the FOBs I was stationed at had some very strict water controls. We were allowed to shower every other day, and had three minutes to walk into the tent, undress, and shower before the water was turned off again. i think the water was at least moderatley warm though.
I think that is about it for now. Have a good one everybody!
Howdy all. I didn't mean to skip the thread for so long (feels like it's been at least a week) but I've been fairly occupied from dawn to dusk for the past several days. Much of that's been finishing wedding invites and some other projects. I may have a blurb later today, or tomorrow, for one but I don't think the invites'll go up until they've been delivered. Alditha's had the bulk of the invites printed at a printer place but I've tooled up a few as well, for the close family 'n all. I might've done a dozen of them but since they needed to be finished by tomorrow and each one takes 4-8 hours to complete it's really just 4. I'm pooped now.
We've been having what would pass for a heat wave for this area for the past while. My biggest trouble with it is the dry heat causes my leather to dry out super quickly while I'm still trying to tool it. Other than that it's all been pretty good. There's been slight amounts of quasi wedding drama (everyone agrees on what should/will happen but there's occasionally differing notions of how to achieve that) but my estimation is that it's one of the smoother arrangements of this sort of thing that one could envision. It's going to be very spiffy.
I'm still a bit bummed about PAX but I understand Lorindah's claimed my errant ticket and that makes it less sad. I'll just have to come up with some big scale project to complete while Alditha's down there. Maybe I'll build a table.
Anywho, I'm sure there's something I'm supposed to be doing so I'd best amscray. Ya'll have yourselves a good 'un!
Quick phone post : I am in Pennsylvania! The furballs and I made it safely thanks to some amazing help. Truly happy to be here, but needing sleep as I have been awake for roughly 30 of the last 34 hours or so.
Hope all are well!

This sounds like a story. After you get some rest and recovery time. Happy you made it!
OTC's didn't cut it so I'm back on the hard stuff. Did manage to do some grocery shopping. But now I'm beat.
Take care all.
