Thread: First Impressions.

I've always been a fan of Lord of the Rings and it's lore before I even knew what Lord of the Rings was ( Grandfather was an avid fan of Tolkien's work ) and quite a few times over the previous months I'd glanced at LotRO but never created an account because I've seen other MMO's based on some of my favourite works that have shied away from the world and lore to recreate it how they want it. It wasn't until my girlfriend, hunting down a game we could play together, nudged me into creating an account.

And I can safely sum what was running through my head at the time with the word 'Overwhelming' the world was massive, but more importantly ( To me at least ) was that the world and it's lore was accurate, both my girlfriend and I could wander around and find everything based entirely on personal knowledge of the world and on at least one occasion I attempted to follow the same paths as the fellowship until an Uruk-hai ended my travels short and I vowed to begin again when I could safely travel the path.

I've played many MMOs, and only a rare few have managed to keep me playing passed level 5 in fact, it was two, and three as of LotRO. The Captain, Runekeeper and Warden are pushing 15-20 and going strong, and show no signs of stopping anytime soon. Followed by several suggestions to friends with the same apprehensions of the game to take up arms resulting in a Dwarven Champion, Elven hunter and my Human captain that have brought many a humorous moments to us through our gameplay.

That is what makes this game amazing. One person or couple decide to try the game, get sucked in by the lore and the world itself then persuade a few friends to join. Create a fellowship that meets more people along the way and in a few months a new kinship is born.

We ended up on the Landroval server because we occasionally enjoy roleplay on our down time.
