As you all know Guild Wars 2 is fast approaching. The time has come, as for the possible final hours of lotro aswell. I am calling on freeps/creeps for this weekend from august 25th to the 26th we ride/run into battle. We shall fight not for death nor glory nor renown/infamy but fight (aka keyboard button smashing) for fun! I would like to wage an RvR battle between both sides. Freep signups for those interested will start now and last a month. But before I recruit, if the creep leaders would like to coordinate for this event aswell, that would be great. PM/ingame mail me if you are interested. I do hope we get 2 raids going for both freep and creepside so I hope turbine won't cause us any lag. Time of the event will be the same as any other weekend raid there has been before. I will be tallking to other freep leaders for their cooperation in this event that I hope to be an all big sucess. Again PM me or ingame mail for signups. This will not be possible without the help of the most notorious creep leaders. If you guys are willing to help make this possible then that would be great. Thank you all for your time.

I am Lord Celderon, Leader of the Coldfells Army, Defender of Glan Vràig and I will have vengeance.
Since I have no idea what Guild Wars is all about, and some friends have already told me it was nothing special, and I play LOTRO because I love the game, I think I'll pass on your offer. Don't let the 'door' to Middle Earth hit you on the way out...

This thread will now self destruct whenever it actually can. I guess the rumors were not true that big E population will go gradually down after GW2 release so this is a pointless thread. And that 'we' is actually a 'you'. I figured elendilmir would be somewhat empty but I guess not so. Cancel everything I said. Long live lotro gday all

Actually, they did. Well, in combination with Turbine's (few) developers and game direction.
This games FTP transition wasn't because the population was booming... obviously it was the opposite. Maybe you didn't notice, but mostly everyone is gone.
Why list something like this as if to signal the 'end' of Elendilmir pvp? Pvp died ages ago.. Turbine assured that. But E will have me as long as the action isn't completely dead, as I'm sure Yicky, Vyxe, and some others may be too. The idea to get people out is a good idea - but not as "The Final Battle" ??
Sorry, but I don't think this is justified. I'll be back in a couple of weeks (17th) to start grouping/raiding again, if anyone's left...
Welcome back syl!! And like I said before this thread is pointless so srry everyone I had bad sources telling me population lvls would go down on lotro. I've now realized this is incorrect and I'm glad but for watever happens I hope ppl stay on lotro. If freeps/creeps wanna retain with the whole RvR event on august 25th-26th then great it could also be like a pre RoR weekend event. All further comments plz retain to organizing the event plz ty

Purlas plz contribute to the newly updated idea on an RvR event that will take place on the last weekend of august. Again keep the comments on topic. I have been receiving various tells for a good RvR event. Only from freepside though. Keep the tells pouring in and hopefully we can get a big fun event going on those 2 dates. Other than that disregard the Gw2 comment in hopes that we can continue having great fights on the further weekends to come.

Anyone who denies this is delusionally optimistic.
ive lost count how many times ive heard that over the last 5 years. it really is getting tiresome. if you dont like LOTRO dont play it, if you do great
History is filled with "final battles" and "unsinkable ships". Well WW1 led right to the second one. The Titanic and the Bismark both sank on their maiden voyages.
Battles come and go and only the faces and places change. It will be that way until some poed supernatural or alien being comes and wipes us all out or we do it ourselves "and then Ozzy here is gonna be the smartest man on the cinder."
LOTRO's biggest recent mistake is putting so many eggs into the mounted combat basket. If it flops the game will be a long time in recovering.
Back to my Guinness.
Place was overrun with rats when we moved in. The spearwives killed the nasty buggers. Now the place is overrun with spearwives. There’s days I want the rats back~Dolorous Edd
Except that they don't and that's why it's dead and garbage
If you are that unhappy with it, for whatever reason, then you should probably find something else to do or different people to play with. Or just take a break for a bit.

Comments about GW2 are to be considered off-topic here?

Maybe. Maybe not.
Thing is: Turbine dont care much about PvMP. It's merely a mini-game for them, like fishing.
Dont think they are very worried about GW2 potentially killing PvMP.
The only direct competition to LOTRO and turbine would be another Tolkien MMO, which will not happen for legal reasons.
The only thing that will kill the pvp system here , is turbines lack of attention to it. I myself probably will try guild wars but always have a heart for lotro so will do both. Yet, I will say for me, pve is too easy, pvp is too stale.. It needs something new for the more hard core type players.
I dont mind trying new games to keep me from getting bored w/ lotro at times. Its a good break. Just stinks that lotro is 2 wks after gw2 with its release.

It is hilarious how every time a new game comes out, someone here states that it will kill LOTRO or kill LOTRO PvP. So far, not one game has been completely successful at fully dethroning LOTRO. I still see players come back after supposely leaving LOTRO for good.

Lore and Social Aspect can keep this game alive. I've personally been disappointed in the "PVP AWESOMENESS" each other "lotro killer" game promised, but failed to deliver...GW2 though...man, that game is just in a whole other league.
But what others have said are true, LotROs worst enemy is Turbine, not some other game.

Nearly every other game that has come out in the last 5+ years has been WoW/Lotro repackaged. Fun for a side adventure to liven things up when Lotro became stale but in the end the lore, community and indeed some fun pvp/pve tended to draw most back, myself included. Anyone who actually looked into each new release saw that nothing was really all that different with each new game, just lore and the occasional mechanic changed but nothing that would make such a game the new MMO topdog and vanquish all others.
Difference with GW2 is that it is attempting to break away from the standard MMO model in many areas. It remains to be seen how successful its move will be but from initial beta impressions its certainly hit the nail on the head so far. No other game will kill Lotro, WB's can do that job just fine. However at a time when turbine has neglected PvP to its current laughable state, when quite a lot of its veteran population are disillusioned with PvP and the store amongst other things....people will replace those that leave but a host of vets and experienced players wont return or will only do so infrequently, to the detriment of E's moors.

Its a little silly to say GW2 will create the last ever pvp battle on the server, but i fully support your event "Or any" that creates a mass gathering/war
If im free youll see me there, throw me an invite for heals
Had some good old fashioned fun today, that 5min battle in Lugs was just what i needed after that ganking i received in the 1v1 sanctuary the other night
I think by the end of it the freeps and creeps had a good time, was pretty epic, to the point where people actually ran out of power!!
Had to log out after that, I had GF aggro and no guard to tank it
GW2 may very well make pvp in this game very ghost like but it will not kill this game. This game is way and I mean WAY WAY WAY more about the PVE than the PVP.

^I think a problem they will have is the combination of neglect/balance issues, along with audacity. Returning to the moors post the start of another audacity season, behind the curve, with an audacity comms grind ahead of me will not be that terribly appealing, especially with current "balance" being maintained. The intro of a pvp currency is good in concept, but I don't think it necessarily fits the casual nature that lotro creep pvp is taking, especially for creep players to participate semi-casually.
List of games that were predicted to shut down PVMP:
-Conan
-WarHammer
-Aion
-Rift
-SWTOR
Didn't warhammer come out about the same time as lotro? within the first year? I was playing DAoC then and the devs over there sunk every egg yolk and shell into warhammer. Most of the games on that list had absolutely no appeal to me. SWTOR has some slight appeal but no enough for me stay there very long. You would think with the source material that any star wars game could be at least half as addicting as lotro...
As some above have stated the game is more likely to die due to neglect and apathy than another bright shiny new game emerging.
