Fincin took a stand and then without explanation got her thread closed
Hi everyone. Thanks again for all the great feedback and support on my original post "Fincin takes a stand". http://forums.lotro.com/showthread.p...-takes-a-stand
Now it has been closed and without explanation. I would really love to know why it got closed. A simple explanation would be great as at this point I am very unhappy. I can, along with many others, get grieved and there is no response or apparent response to our complaints, yet my thread gets closed? Why? Can you at Turbine at the very least offer up some reason why?
I mean really, You let grievers get away with so much lately and I cannot discuss it with the community in which I am a part of. This makes no sense to me at all. Would love an answer from you Turbine!
Well, I don't know much about forums, but I would guess that Turbine doesn't like the trash talk directed to their own staff. We need to keep the forums a positive place where people can talk about the nice things that go on in the game instead of dwelling on the negative. ***Applause for Turbine***

The thread had gone on for 4 pages. What more needed to be discussed? Turbine is obviously aware of the issue. But it is presumptuous to say the least to assume that they are responding to these concerns with complete antipathy. We have no idea what is going on internally at Turbine. We can only know one part of the story. So let's all stop making assumptions and jumping to conclusions about things when we simply don't have enough data to reach any reasonable deductions, ok?

Big difference between speaking about the truths that are happening and trash talking someone or something.

Considering the griefer in question has been doing his thing unhindered for 6 months without Turbine lifting a finger, I would say it's not presumptuous in the slightest to assume that Turbine is responding to these concerns with complete antipathy.
How many threads of similar harassment and dissatisfaction will be closed or deleted before we get Turbine's attention? VIP status of this customer cancelled.

This. Coincidentally, even though I was a supporter of the thread, I found myself asking the very same question the other day. The thread did its purpose and got the point across, but after 4 pages it was getting a little off-topic and descending into flaming. There are a handful of separate threads about these guys and their actions all over the Lotro boards, from RP to PvP forums. I think it is safe to say that the GMs know about this problem and will be monitoring those in question. But as many had said in the previous thread, continuing to get in an uproar over these folks merely gives them the attention they were seeking all along. The best thing you can do is deny them that.

If you'd like to know why the thread was closed, you should send a PM to one of the forum moderators. Turbine does not allow discussion of its moderation decisions on its forums.

Yeah, thanks for that. However, if you are tying to troll my post, please don't.
First of all, I wouldn't dream of trolling on this thread or any other. Secondly, I am simply offering you a realistic reason as to why this lock-down would have happend. It doesn't take a detective to figure out why on earth they could ever have shut it down....

Actually, this is most likely the precise reason the thread was closed down. Turbine has always made it perfectly clear that they do not discuss any disciplinary action. Yet in the previous thread people were basically asking them to do so. Wanting assurances that the griefers would be stopped. Turbine won't do that. And the more Turbine didn't provide the answers people wanted, the more they got angry and accused Turbine of being apathetic and not knowing their own CoC. (I suspect the posting of the CoC at Turbine was the final straw.)
People just need to calm down. You file a ticket, you ignore, and then you mind your own business.

I had meant to get back to the previous thread to comment further. As to the previous thread being closed, surely it would have taken less than a minute to post at least "We think this thread has run it's course etc", though of course acknowledgement that grieving incidents were being looked into would have been nice too.
I had been going to say that it was good of Mandli to point out that the events of Weatherstock were at least still under discussion with the powers that be. That sort of information, while I didn't need to know the specifics of server or the individual involved (while not named, those there will know of who Celestrata was referring to), it was at least good to hear that some grieving was being addressed. I just hope whatever plan Turbine/GMs are getting "together to make sure this doesn't happen during next year's event" will be applicable to other events (announced concerts etc), but also impromptu performances or general play. Hopefully well before Weatherstock next year, and on all servers. And I'm not suggesting Turbine tell us exactly what they're doing, or to whom, but at least that "X behaviours are being dealt with by warnings/lock-outs/bans" or "We're looking in to how to reduce the interruptions" etc. Stopping repeat offenders is one thing, limiting some of their 'tools' to begin with (forced emotes) is something else that needs to be refined. It would be great to know if that was something that was under discussion within Turbine.
Thing that concerns me: it seems the trolls and greifers think they have won. I hope this action doesnt make it worse. It seems like it has dropped off some at least. I wander why they even bother? Do they want to drive everyone off the server? Do they have some type of psychosis? The actions of these people has always baffled me. It seems MMOS are proving my old philosohy professor right, mankind is wicked by nature.
Tanthilan, have they really won? Every troll needs someone to play his trolling game with. If that someone walks away the game is over. Obviously not be able to play the trolling game is not winning it.
He means the fact that a thread about the inaction (from what we as players see in game) by the GMs in regards to complaints towards griefers was locked without any sort of acknowledgement about the concerns is like giving the green light for those griefers to continue with what they are doing. It makes them seen apathetic towards the players making the complaints. Simply just posting, "Yes we understand your concerns and we are doing what we can to address the matter. Thank you for the thread." would have been sufficient and shown that they got the message despite the numerous threads out there already. It's just the mere fact that your voice was heard shows the care that we used to see from Turbine still exists.
Just pray that you don't get charged Turbine points for adding to your ignore list in the future lol

I guess they didn't feel that way then. It's funny how complaining to people that they are not doing their job will result in them having less than sympathetic reactions to your comments...

Simple logic that! I like simple logic. I don't understand all that complicated stuff about caring. If you start caring you get cought up in complicated RP-Player stuff. First they point at us. And when we are finally gone they will start to point at each other.
