Thread: Forum signature size magically shrinking?

I decided to update the level numbers in my forum signature today. Unfortunately I got a message my signature was over its size limit of 200 characters (including BB markup code)... I tried to fit some useful information with the pre-made banner of my main character and after a lot of prodding decided the pre-made banner just took too much character space... and had to go. So I reluctantly gave up, saving myself 60 odd characters in the process.

Hey, I thought... there now is room to put up some info about my lower level alts, because I still have 50 or so characters left. And so I did... tried.... and then my (virtual) head hit a concrete wall... of 175 characters. My maximum allowed forum signature size had shrunken from 200 to 175 characters for no apparent reason in just a couple of minutes. So now I'm stuck with a '&&&&&&' forum signature where I used to be able to show statistics of all my alts, a banner and an extra line, just a year ago.

Turbine, what is this Forum Signature Madness?

I think it might be a bug. I was trying to change my signature and ran into that 200 character limit thing, went okay guess they changed it, tried shrinking it down, and even when I know it's less than 200 characters including spaces it's telling me it's too long. So I didn't save my changes and my sig is the same as it was before.

yeah know what you mean, i cant update my sig atm either cause of it

I thought I was going crazy! I just wanted to update the levels of some of my alts in my signature and when I tried to change the '16' to '17,' it suddenly said it was too long! I couldn't figure out how the same number of characters was suddenly too long.

I thought maybe I hit a button and broke something. :/

It's good to know that I didn't and hopefully they'll have this fixed soon.

Same here. Oh my gosh, i'm about ready to cry. As you can see, there is a LOT of work in my signature, hours. I used MS Word to count the characters, and it counted about 1,416 characters including the BBC codes. I tried to update one of my characters' levels when i got the "200 character limit" message. Is this for real? And if so, why?
