How do kinship leaders deal or handle with absentee members of their kins? In this, I mean kinsmen that either do not log in for great periods of time (say two months at a stretch) or those who do not participate in kinship events or functions?
It really depends on the type of Kinship and the personality of its leadership.
A Casual Kin is more likely to let overall attendance slide, whereas an Endgame Kin isn't going to let anyone be gone for a pre-set amount of time. Regardless of the type, I don't see a small Kin dismissing anyone for anything less than violations of the game and/or unwanted behaviour. I know of Kins with people that haven't been on in over a year.
As for not attending events, the leadership simply needs to post some requirements and follow up with whatever punishment they have laid out with the rules for attending the events.
In the interest of maintaining the integrity of our kinship membership roster, members that were inactive for more than 6 months were dismissed. Then, we found out that they were not removed from our roster despite being dismissed. We even sumitted a ticket requesting that they be removed, but to no avail. Some members that have been inactive for a period of more than a year were placed in a sort of limbo, where you can see their name but with no level rank. So, we now think twice before promoting a recruit. If someone leaves, they leave? We pick up the pieces and move on! You cannot do anything about inactivity, sort of like the crafting levels in my signature, which should all read 7! ^^
