I think there should be pets that dont attack, but are like cosmetics for ALL classes, you could go around and people would admire your falcon, or eagle, and then there would be new emotes for them too!! =D
It would be cool bcause if ur doing a skirm or epic quest, u would press something and he would go home and there fido is! There could be for axample, things from a toad (lvl 1) a dog (lvl 15) up to a dragon (lvl 75) and you could give them names and make them different colors! =D

Lore-masters do get cosmetic pets. If you've done I.2.15, "The Red Pass," you'll remember that in that instance Radagast the Brown leads you through the swamps to fight the baddies and on the way encounters several animals: a frog, a sparrow, a fox, and so on. The skills to summon some of these animals are rare drops during that quest (and possibly in the landscape, I don't remember). Only an LM can learn the skills, but the items are not bound, so (e.g.) a Champion could pick one up and give it to his alt the LM. Or sell it on the AH, which is where I got my Cat. He cost me a couple of gold, as I recall. That was the only one I really wanted; I also have a frog, a fox, and a rabbit that I picked up in the course of questing, but I never summon them.
Note that the presence of pets, combat or non-, in crowded areas adds to lag, and it's considered neighborly to dismiss them when you enter such an area.
So, we have frogs but not toads, cats but not dogs, and we can name them (my Cat's name is Pangur, though he's tabby, not white) but we can't change their colours. Dragons, however, play on Team Sauron, and are not suitable pets for any of the Free Peoples of Middle-earth.
No cosmetic pets for the general populace,Its one of the things that differentates lore masters from the rest of the crowd, add in massive lag if everyone in the world had their cosmetic pets out and i say No. Perhaps if they want to have a dog or a cat or i bird pet that is tied to a &&&& inside your house , Now that id say Yes to.

Essentially, yes. Now, if Turbine were to implement something that would dismiss all our pets whenever we entered a city, town, or camp (that is, a place where even the LM's combat pets would not be needed), then it would be less problematic for the rest of the classes to have cosmetic pets. I don't, however, know how much coding time that would take, which would then be subject to whether WB were willing to pay for it.
I can't figure out what you originally typed about tying your pet to inside your house, that the filter didn't like. I'm just not imaginative enough, I guess.
It would cause more lag (both server and framerate), would make pet classes less distinctive, and would be just plain weird. Middle-earth wasn't a menagerie of trained dogs, cats, falcons, neeker-breekers, and whatever else.
I hope the only pets we get in this game are house pets. Those wouldn't suffer from any of the above problems, and would be a nice addition to housing.

We've already got birds in cages, and pesky dormice in the woodwork.
Maybe instead of adding it to the game, make a tamagotchi style game for android phone to add some skim points, items, etc portable wise and that its linked to your character!

Yes, but would it bring in enough money to WB to justify their paying for its development?
(Note: I have no idea what the answer to this would be. I don't even have a portable phone.)
I fully agree with most of you! House pets are basically the only pets that wouldn't cause a massive lag. The lore masters do have pets, but most of them are for attacking, and not everyone wants to be a loremaster. I tried the loremaster, and hated it, so now im not able to have a pet, thats what im trying to change!

I know, but those aren't really "pets". Just "cute animations".
A pet would have features like:
Owner-selectable name
Customizable collar/harness
Able to learn tricks
Additional animations/behaviors based on Affection
It would be a new game system, if a fairly minor one. I'd imagine it would be popular, though, and house pets wouldn't add much to server lag (since they'd only be instanciated when you're actually in your house).
Ya! Thats exactly what im picturing! and there would be different types of pets available depending on which house you have! They could all have houses too. Like a dog would have a doghouse that u can change the color of, and a lynx would have a little cave. And you can expand those houses to have babies!
"Duct tape is like the force. It has a light side, a dark side, and it holds the world together."
Pets are one of the things that make LM's different from other classses in the game so I say NO pets for any class outside of a housing based house pet. I have the turtle from the turtle run on the outside of my house and i would think that houses should have dogs cats and or birds that could be attached to one of the internal hooks in housing but again i say NO to pets outside the housing areas period.
By the way this suggestion has been suggested so many times in the past its sad ... like most suggewtions good ones or bad they just end up in the great bit bucket hidden within middle earth swome where or set bad in some dusty old corner of some scholors house.
