Thread: Consolidated gold throughout characters

Is there a way to find out the total gold across all toons without manually logging into each toon?

With the plugin altinventory you can see how much gold you have total. And then go down per toon to see who has what.

I recommend TitanBar instead. It provides all the functionality of AltInventory and more.

Includes things such as:
- See all alts money
- Current session & day gain or loss on money over all characters totalled
- See all alts inventory
- See all alts vaults
- Easy tracking/usage of items you choose with color indicator when low on stacks
- Rough estimate of equipment damage so you know whether you need to repair or not

There's other stuff as well, but those are mainly what I use it for.

Why isn't gold account-wide anyway now that we have the premium wallet?

Like the sound of this Titan Bar malarky - going to give it a go when I get home from work tonight.

I just installed titanbars too, though I can't seem to look at the vaults of my characters. Only inventory bags once ive logged on to all of my characters first.

Anyone know how to get to see your vaults using this plugin?

Edit: nevermind i just found my answer, you can load it up as not all are on by default ^^

No! Each toon has a separate coin purse. In the new wallet everything that is account wide is highlighted in green.

It was suggested many times already in the suggestion forum that money should be shared, but of course not all like that idea. Some like the money to remain split.

One of the most useful ideas so far has been, that the bank vault should also hold money so we could deposit or withdraw money from the shared bank account.

And with the major "some" being of course Turbine, as this would undermine one of the main reasons to upgrade from a free account.

Though the shared storage really could use a "banking" option. Would be another very good incentive to buy it.

"No" what? I understand how it works now, I was asking why it isn't account-wide if a bunch of other tokens and currencies are. Could make it optional or VIP only if some people don't like the idea for whatever reason.

My understanding is that the gold cap for every character is 9999g (or something like that). If gold were shared for all characters then people would start losing gold once their combined amount hit that cap since any new earnings would go *poof*. As it is now players can at least transfer gold to alts before they hit that cap.

Now, I could see a shared gold system working in our favor if that cap were removed, or if (as mentioned above) there were a separate shared gold system put in place on the shared vault kept apart from the character's regular gold, but without some sort of workaround like that then more and more players would hit that cap and lose out...especially as we add more expansions and levels to the game where more and more gold is earned.

Seriously who needs more then 9999g on an account? Who needs 9999g?

Right now? Probably nobody. But it's also widely known that LotRO has no real gold sinks in the game yet. That may change in some future expansion. Perhaps down the road they may implement something that costs 2k gold per character...like an oliphaunt mount or a new ultra-cool end-game house...or an oliphaunt mount that IS the house (Middle-earth's first mobile home?).

No. Do not institute gold sharing.

Do not force twinking on my characters. My characters stand on their own merits, or go broke on their own faults. If they want money, they sell stuff. If they want equipment, they buy stuff.

The only trading my characters do with each other is for crafting materials, recipes, and crafted equipment.

DDO has this. You have to buy it from the store, but there is a shared bank option (in addition to the char's personal bank).

I will never figure out why they gave us a "premium barter wallet" that hold all our marks and allows sharing them across toons, but not our gold.
Theoretically, shared storage should allow you to deposit a small amount of gold within your shared vault each character can access.

Not sure if it's been said yet, but I'm willing to repeat it anyway. To prevent hackers from dumping your account coin with one character. There is no reason to make it that easy for someone to just log into one character and steal ALL the coin in your account. At least with alts being logged, a friend or a kinny may spot the behavior, try to contact you, find out it's not you, and start a ticket immediately. Support may not act then and there, but with the ticket, confirmation from your friend and his own ticket, most likely the account will be restored efficiently with a minimum of fuss.

Why share marks and such but not coin? Coin is NOT bound to account, marks are. You can't mail marks to other accounts, but you CAN mail coin.

Personally I'd love it if gold could be shared across my account. I could see why some people might not desire such however. Maybe if they could add it to the lotro store for a 'cheap' price like 50 or 100TP so that those who don't want it don't have to get it, but for those that do it's a simple purchase. *shrug*

As for making our gold account(server) wide, I would have to say no thanks to that. I try to keep some gold on a lowbie alt so I can not spend it all. However, I have come across 10+gold on some unloved alts of mine. Hopefully the plugin will save me from that! :-)
