Tuesday Morning Coffee Tea and Pastry Musings

    Flash back to January 2012:

I, a newly retired and now unemployed person, need to sell my home so that I may move elsewhere. I owe approximately $164K on my mortgage, and my real estate agent gently tells me that due to the current market and housing values in my neighborhood, the best I can expect to sell my home for is $150-155k, thereby putting me smack in the group of underwater homeowners. I would have to magically come up with $16-20K just to get out of this house. Sadness ensues.

    Fast forward to July 2012:

Behold, a miracle! Thanks to continued monthy house payments, I now owe $159k on my current mortgage. The real estate agent tells me that houses have started to sell and my neighborhood has become a hotbed of interest. We agree to put my house up for sale at $177k starting this Thursday. That should leave me enough wiggle room to negotiate down a bit, pay closing costs and commissions, and perhaps have a few coins left over.

Procrastination FTW! However, under the category of "And Now The Other Foot Falls...."

I am obligated to finish staining kitchen cabinets, replace kitchen baseboards, paint at least two bedrooms, clean an entire house including a garage and mow 10000 square feet of massively overgrown lawn, all within the space of 72 hours. This over a holiday when my entire network of friends are unavailable to assist me due to massive consumption of barbeque, beer and fireworks.

So how will you spend your Independence Day holiday?

Yikes! Why the short time limit? ah,..so they can start 'showing' the house?

Lemme send some buddies over to help.

I suppose they'll just have to show the house 'in progress'! But it is good news about the value coming back up!

I made dinner tonight for the first time in awhile. I let my pain pill fade this afternoon and took some otc med to tide me over to bedtime just to let my head clear a bit. I think I might be able to function with it. Maybe not sleep so will continue with the hard stuff for nights. It will help that we don't work on Wednesday.

    We'll see.

On that note, I may or may not be taking up blacksmithing in a few weeks. This following a new Recurve Bow! Because the one I had been using was an antique from the 1950s and I'm pretty sure it's gonna break if I keep using it.

This one. is. beautiful. 60 lbs draw, 4'10", crafted oak. I'm getting giddy just thinking about it

What's with all the Bows this year! hehee,..

I am not sure I have ever been quite so happy about doing dishes and laundry! $112 and a visit from a very nice Roto-Rooter guy later, my drains are clear and life can proceed once more.

Off to take Mirrah to the doc, then more laundry and dishes! Yay!

    Howdy allez!

Anarion: Woot! New stuff! And blacksmithy to boot! Got any particular item to make in mind?

Lorindah: Yeesh. I'd offer to help if I could safely cross the border. Sadly I'm not to that point yet. =/ Still, it's good news couched with some momentarily inconvenient news, right?

Danke. ^_^~> Alditha's father works at one of the major theaters (the kind with a stage instead of a screen) in the area and he said something about putting me in touch with their resident costumer. So who knows, maybe in five years some actor will prance across the stage wearing some piece I slapped a triweave on.

Send me some yew and I'll see what I can do.

It's going to be a fairly busy day for me today. Aside from the project sitting on my workbench I have to head off and have my fingerprints taken so I start some of the pre-immigraty things. I also have to call some places and shake a verbal fist at them over the phone. Oh, and there's some bread to be made and other random things. And tonight I have to finalize the playlist for the hitchery. I suppose the musicians will need time to figure out how to play the TNG theme with a flute and a violin.

Off I go! Ya'll have a good 'un!

Well today has not hit the 108 degree mark it did yesterday. Thankfully yesterday afternoon we received some much needed rain. The rain was awesome, so I guess it made it much cooler and bearable for today.

Hubby is continuing to make progress and was able to dress himself today for the first time. That was a major accomplishment. I took off the bandage on his back as it was time for it to get some air and dry out.....the 82 stitches go from the middle of his shoulder blades to his tail bone, but it looks really good. He is still using the Bone Growth Stimulator, but as long as I keep the batteries changed and the leads he is good to go.

I learned Sunday night that my Aunt had passed away from Parkinson's Disease and weighed only 88 pounds at the time. Today are her services but I had to tell my Uncle that I would be unable to attend due to the hubby as it is imperative that he not fall nor injure himself at this time in his recovery. That made me feel guilty not to go, but I couldn't just leave the hubby for 12 or 14 hours as my Aunt's services were in another state. And I was unable to find someone to stay the whole day with him. And obviously he would be unable to make that trip and that extended drive.

So, I am positive that for tomorrow the holiday I'm going to get as much rest as I can. Things have been just too stressful of late. The one good thing is tomorrow our neighbor is taking us out tomorrow night on their pontoon boat to watch fireworks from the lake. The hubby will enjoy that!
