    Money in the mail

So I stopped playing LOTRO a few months back due to real life reasons, and mailed my gold to my best friend so he could use it. Turns out he stopped playing by that point too and never checked the mail. So the gold should have bounced back and forth between us, correct? Well when we both cancelled our subscriptions, we didn't have the currency cap unlocked (I don't even think you can buy it when you're VIP). Since you can't mail/receive more than the cap, did my money simply get deleted as invalid mail? Or does mail delete itself after a few bounces between characters?

The gold would have been destroyed by the game if it has been long enough.

The gold goes to your friend in a mail. Your friend has 14 days to open the mail and extract the gold. On day 15, it is returned to you. Another 14 day clock begins counting. When that clock runs out, the mail is deleted along with the contents.
