[Summer Fun 2012] The Gates of Summer <July 5th, 7 pm GMT, Laurelin>
"...and now at length is that great feast Tarnin Austa or the Gates of Summer near at hand. For know that on a night it was their custom to begin a solemn ceremony at midnight, continuing it even till the dawn of Tarnin Austa broke, and no voice was uttered in the city from midnight till the break of day, but the dawn they hailed with ancient songs.
"For years uncounted had the coming of summer thus been greeted with music of choirs, standing upon their gleaming eastern wall; and now comes even the night of vigil and the city is filled with silver lamps, while in the groves upon the new-leaved trees lights of jewelled colours swing, and low musics go along the ways, but no voice sings until the dawn.
"The sun has sunk beyond the hills and folk array them for the festival very gladly and eagerly -- glancing in expectation to the East." ~The Book of Lost Tales Volume I, J.R.R. Tolkien
Weatherstock award winning band Andúnië presents a remembrance of an ancient Elven holiday celebrated upon a time in the city of Gondolin.
The Gates of Summer is an event centered around the rising of the sun. Like the Gondolindhrim, we will gather together during the darkness to await the coming dawn. As we wait, let no voice be raised in word or song. Only low musics will be played as the night dies away. Expectantly we will watch the horizon in the east and as the glory of the sun begins to lighten the sky, we will raise a glorious symphony of music to welcome its rising. Then shall all engage in talk and laughter and singing and dancing and every joyous thing. For the season of summer is here bringing its light and warmth to all.
In honor of the Gates of Summer festival, Andúnië will be taking the LOTRO music system to new heights by presenting for your enjoyment a full length performance of the Pastoral Symphony by Ludwig van Beethoven, transcribed for LOTRO by Fionnuala of Landroval. We will be awarding prize codes for Perlino Steeds and Turbine Points provided by Turbine for those who impress us the most with their festive attire, dancing skill and general in character presentation. So come dressed in your best and brightest and bring your dancing shoes!
This event will be held in the Falathlorn pavilion just south of Celondim.

Friends, apparently the in game day/night cycle is not in sync between this server and Landroval where I normally play and where I was when I calculated the time of this event. I had not thought of that, so the time I set up for The Gates of Summer on Laurelin is inaccurate. Dawn will not be occurring this afternoon on Laurelin until 3:28 pm /servertime. So we will be starting the event one hour later than previously scheduled.
The event will begin at 3 pm /servertime, 7 pm GMT.

Thank you so much for a wonderful event. We were really impressed and amazed by the music, the matching outfits, and the actual day/night cycle you planned into the event. Wonderfully done.
Yes, indeed, thank you very much indeed, Fionulea and friends.
The location was inspiring, those that gathered there were predominantly good people, who were there in the spirit in which the event was intended. There was some lovely RP in places, with gentle exchanges on friendly terms. Altogether so very welcoming.
The changing of the light in so enchanting a spot made it still more wonderful to be there.
It was a delight to dance, and Nadryna and I felt free to share our time emoting our affections freely. We really did have a great time. And such a lovely bonus to it all to find we actually won something too. Superb.
Thank you.
Too kind.
Please arrange another.
