I am contemplating a return to LOTRO after approximately a year away. I was wondering what has changed in the Moors. Could anyone point me to a good link to get me up-to-date?
Pvp has been falling in the amount of fun, to where I have actually started deed grinding instead of pvping(PvE is doing much better though in quality if you have any interest in that at all though). Turbine is suppose to be reworking the mechanics of pvp though, so will probably be a make or break deal after RoR.
Thanks for the responses. That is too bad. I am (was) a casual player, typically raiding once a week. PVP was what I did the rest of the week, when I wanted tough content that wouldn't require a lot of preparation or "gearing up" I never minded the limited map. The moors created great camaraderie and some good action. But the lotro grind was getting to me and the idea of running a new character through PvE landscape quests and then grinding virtues... well, I'm playing swtor now. I'm a lifer, so maybe I'll come back some day. But I suspect it will be a tough transition back. Heck, I even read that Vin was playing creepside now.
Yes, we have corrupted Vinnie, and plan to keep him. Muwahahahahh.
We still have some fun nights of fighting in the moors, but things have degraded a lot. I suggest you come out on one side or the other (CREEP) and see what fun you may be able to find or make.

Each day mirrors the previous where one side or the other will create a raid when there's really no need for one.
Then said raid will zerg soloers and small groups.
Or, fights only happen at EC or OC. Seriously, they could take all the keeps away, keep EC and OC, and no one would notice.
Or, either side turtles in the keep they own.
Both sides have OP classes, so you'll see 100 of said classes on each side.
PvP has become the same thing day after day. I think most people only go out their anymore because they are either bored or are just filling in time until GW2 comes out.
To answer your question, though, nothing has changed.
Turbine has introduced commendations. So now whenever you kill a freep/creep they will give you renown/infamy and commendations, unlike how it used to be, which was renown/infamy and destiny points. Destiny points are basically now only used for perks. They also came up with audacity. Now, what audacity does is, every time you get one you take less damage, your skills cost less power, and I believe stun/daze durations are shorter or something. You will automatically start with one audacity, and if you get all 7 audacity you will take around 30% less damage and your skills cost 20% less power. If you are a creep, audacity is a passive. If you're a freep, you buy armour with commendations that has audacity as a stat in the armor. For freeps, they have 3 audacity sets, each set representing one of your trait lines.
Also some classes have changed: Wargs now have 2 stances, flayer, their survival stance, and shadow their dps stance, although if you're in flayer you can still do a lot of dps, but shadow you can do it faster. Wardens have also gotten a boost, good ones can solo keep tyrants, and live for a really long time with many npcs/creeps on them. Champs have gotten more bubbles/heals, about 3 bubbles and 3 heals I believe, I might be mistaken though. Not quite sure about minis/rks, perhaps someone else can explain what their boost is. Well, hope this was helpful, and have fun out there!

It is ok if you disagree with me. I cannot force you to be right.

Aside from those two observations...it's pretty much the same. Zerg uber alles. Real soloing is few and far between.

I caught a R8 BA yesterday running towards DC up the hill...nighttime so lots of trolls were up on the hill all the way to DC. I dismounted and lagged as he ran through me, so I had to burn my sprint to engage in melee as he ran into the first camp of trolls. Stopped, and stood there doing nothing while I beat him down.
No idea why he didn't pop his evade and start snare kiting me through the trolls. Could've been a VERY fun and interesting fight even if I blew every single cooldown. Instead a R8...just gave up. Guess I was supposed to have friends to pull the trolls off of me and then stand there and wait for the BA to jump up and down to indicate he was prepared to fight instead.
So pretty much the same old, same old to me. YMMV

since you had put up your 40 second sprint, a BA cannot slow you and kite you in any way.
It is the grind that gives me pause. I'd like to raise a new character, but the idea of leveling, grinding virtues, grinding an LI, all so I can merely *begin* the PvP grind just pains me. I wouldn't mind doing one or two of those four grinds, but to do them all... no thanks.
Looks like, if I come back, I'll need to make the plunge into creepdom.

Dude...I USED my sprint to get to him...all he had to do was keep running through that whole nest of trolls with his evade on. Sprint wears off and I'm getting kited with at minimum 100k worth of troll meat beating on me while snared and sometimes getting stunned.

A week back and some assorted comments and a question:
1. Much easier to PUG on the creepside even with no maps. Creeps were exceptionally generous with advice and offers of aid. Working on the maps looks like a long haul. Finding an off-hour group freepside doesn't look likely.
2. I am useless solo on either side. Takes me 5 minutes to kill a hobbit. At least I can heal on either side.
3. My cappie goes down shockingly fast to just about everybody solo. No doubt, a mixture of no audacity and a need to relearn the class.
4. Did a freep raid last night and the lag was so bad that I could barely get off skills once every minute. Worse than I remember.
5. Banesrune saw my zero level creep and after he hit me for half my health in his first strike, he realized I was a toothless hamster and let me go about my pve grind in peace. I thought that was incredibly generous and have thanked him in a tell, but wanted to thank him again here.
6. Trash talk continues on both sides. Ho hum.
7. I've been doing SWTOR pvp and I like it a lot, particularly the way they handle pvp rewards for healers and tanks. But it doesn't have in game chat for pugs and it doesn't have an open map. Without these things, the community there can never compete with the community here.
And a question:
As a casual player, comms are slow in coming. Should i wait till Rohan to buy skills creepside or gear freepside?

Absolutely.
Take a look here to see the changes coming with Rohan. Obviously when you get near to 10,000 Commendations you'll want to spend them since there is a cap, but otherwise hang on to them to get cheaper Audacity, skills, traits, and everything.

Your Captain's gear is awful, crafted (not even cap level crafted), some Dunlending and Theo rep jewelry, and landscape quest rewards. Even if you got a full set of PvP Audacity armor you'd still have 9 slots of junk. I wouldn't PvP in that gear, and with the time remaining until RoR no point in trying to become Moors worthy for a casual. I'd suggest just let your Freep(s) collect dust and put your time and comms into your Creeps.
