    Screen Resolution and In-Game Windows

I am on vacation using a laptop to play LOTRO. I have used this laptop off and on over the past year and 1/2 without hitch. This time, I am having a small issue with the screen resolution.

After some digging, apparently, my laptop can only display a screen resolution of 1024 x 600. Everything works in LOTRO except for the windows that open when you talk to a merchant NPC. When I talk with them, the top of the transaction window, the part that has the "Buy," "Sell," and "Repair" tabs, as well as the close button do not show.

In the LOTRO options panel for graphics settings, I tried to go up one level (1024 X 728), but it would not change the display. I hooked my laptop up to another monitor and set it at that resolution and saw the whole window. But going back to my laptop display at 1024x600, the window top was cut off again.

I thought that you would be able to change resolution in game (whether 800x600 or 1024x600) and everything would be visible. I feel like I've tried everything. Is there anything else that I can do? As I said, every other panel is visible except the NPC merchant. But without the ability to repair and sell, there's really no point in playing.

    Thanks in advance.

    Quick thoughts:
    - Have you updated the graphics card driver lately? (assuming you have a discrete graphics card on your laptop.)
    - Have you tried running the game in direct x 9?

When you say the top is cut off, do you mean that it simply doesn't show or that it is cut off by the top of the screen?

If it is the latter, go into Options>UI and towards the bottom change the scale of the UI. Using a different screen resolution than you are used to may require rescaling your UI. Hope this helps.

    Hi Fara-

    - Yes, I updated the graphics card. Did not help.
    - I am running the game in DX9. I cannot (or don't want) to run it in the buggy Dx10.

    Hello--

Yes I did--several times. The full window still does not show. It doesn't change a thing.

    Hi Chui,

The top does not show. I can barely access the drop down menus near the top, but can't access anything above that.

Unfortunately, UI scaling does not come into play (hence can't use the CTRL / to move it) because the NPC dialogue windows are not part of the UI but are separate. And since it's separate, i can't use the keyboard to adjust the location or adjust the size, so that doesn't work.

What I can't understand is why someone would want to use those resolutions if they won't show all the windows. Especially the NPC merchant--can't really play without that.

Anything else I am missing to do?
