first time in... well, a very long time since I played, figured I'd start a new char to get the hang of it. First quest and I'm stuck. Both Peg Pruner and Kate Henseed are missing, at least, I think they are. Have they been relocated? The third one is showing up.
I tried relogging. deleting and starting over, rebooting, ... So what's going on here? I should add I reinstalled through Steam.
Edit: seems I'm having chat issues as well. I've tried talking to a few people who started a new char, asking thme whetehr they could see em, yet no one responded. Seeing them lvl up, I'm assuming the problem is on my end. Any way to fix this without yet again downloading 15gb?
Based on the screen shots they seem to be missing.
Based on the quest names showing you have no reason to interact with them. There are other vendors if you want to sell trash drops.
No tech help, but I would not try another download yet. You might try unloading plugins/ui mods until you get things working
You are correct, this was taken on another char I had in the zone which I logged onto just to double-check. My lvl 1 does have the quest to interact with them and still they won't show up. Deleted all my local files, restarted, still nothing.
Please don't tell me I'm gonna need to roll me an Elf Warden... I'm not into playing female chars and I'm even less into the LotRO elves
Edit: another thing I tried; having someone else target them in an attempt to 'see' them through 'target of target display' but to no avail. Guess it wasn't meant to be.
How long has it been since you started a new character? Both Archet and Thorin's Gate starter instances were revamped in late 2010. NPCs have been added, removed, relocated - the landscape and the story changed rather noticeably as well.

They are still supposed to be there as you need to talk to them for the first quest!
I've briefly experienced the revamped zones, so I know where they should be. Thing is, I'm not inclined to resub because I don't know if somewhere down the road an essential NPC will end up missing also. Been googling and checking these forums. Seems a few more people suffer from missing NPCs left and right, but they got it fixed switching between different versions of DirectX, which doesn't work for me either.
During my first run after installing the game the update had an error somewhere around file 9500 (out of 11300). could it be that this messed up their placement?
Anyway, thanks for the replies. I'll try contacting a GM ingame tomorrow (haven't had any luck contacting them this weekend). Perhaps he can 'complete' the quest for me so I can move on.

Some months ago I started having strange periodic issues with parts of buildings in Bree not displaying, and finally several quest givers in the Shire not displaying. I submitted a GM ticket; the GM told me to file a support ticket through this website, which I did. I had an reply back from support within hours and a solution to my problem. I seem to remember part of the solution as turning down my graphics to very low, logging out and then logging back in. There may have been more to it, but it has been a long time, and I do not have the email anymore.
6 days now... or 5 working days and still no response. I've played a few times and I've encountered several other bugs, though minor. In ered Luin I'm missing the balcony of the ruin to the n-w of Evelon, the Elf sword. The mobs are on it and I can target them, but I can't enter the balcony myself. I'm getting the animation you get while sliding down a slope instead. Another issue is several armour pieces not showing up, for instance the Orthanc boots and chest. I also seem to be missing several mounts, as every so often people are just floating mid-air.
GMs ingame can't help and support won't. Even the forum bugs out 9 out of 10 times. I have to refresh the pages 2-3 times before they somewhat properly load. I know those ingame stuff are due to my client (don't see what I could possibly have done wrong), but the forum issues? I experience the same errors while browsing the forum at work, my brother also has to refresh all the time, ...
Truthfully I would start with a complete system check and re-install of the os then install the game (since you have already installed the game more than once)
Have you tried a support ticket? Not a bug report or gm ticket.
I've tried everything possible, except redownloading the entire thing again, which gives me no guarantees either. I'm sorry, but even a stupid and generic "reinstall the damn game" would have shown some sort of support, but not even that courtesy can be expected.
