    Reflecting Pools?

I remember something about reflecting pools possibly being removed. While I'm not sure if it's planned for the RoR release later this year, was it intentionally omitted from The Great River region? It's entirely possible that I just haven't found or seen it, but no one seemed to know if or where there was a reflecting pool in The Great River region. Since I couldn't find it, I could not assist my father-in-law with some duo/fellowship instances.

Is there one? Is there a workaround (because I couldn't join him from another region)? Is this a mistake or intentional?

You should be able to talk to the same NPC that sends him into the instance. You won't get a quest from the NPC, but there should be an option to join the instance.

I believe they are purposely not including reflecting pools anymore, but I agree it would be nice if they incorporated that functionality into the instance finder or something.

Hmmm. That would all rather depend on you remembering which NPC it was.

The problem in this specific case was that there was an invisible quest giver and it was unselectable through any means. After he entered, I got the usual "entered a private encounter" message and saw a quest ring, but couldn't do anything about it.

I don't have a problem with them changing things, but I think taking the option away might make places tougher to help a friend - and that's one of the core things I liked about the game.

Although this may not be a bug in the sense of "gameplay doesn't match the requirements document", I would still put in a bug report for this with the specific quest and NPC listed and a description of why you weren't able to join in. It won't help you today, but it could help someone else later.

I would do so if Turbine would state the intention with not including the pools. If a "blue name" wouldn't mind telling us that yes, the new mechanic is accepting the quest directly at the quest giver, then bug it I will. Personally, I think that would be a horrible decision, but they can do as they wish - I'd just like to know going forward what the new method will be or if they're doing away with it. I thought the pools were put in to make it easier to group in those occassions, were they not? I can see getting a lot less help if we require people to trek out to remote locations to help on those quests. The other possibility is that they don't want to allow us to do this anymore. In that case, then bugging it will get us nowhere. Perhaps the phasing technology makes certain aspects difficult, but honestly, that's something they should have considered when implementing a change to the policy of reflecting pools, if that's what they've done. If we have those, then the phasing issue would seemingly be solved.

Why not add one? I think they did in Enedwaith (not sure about Dunland). Just give us a reflecting pool. How else can I revisit those instances? That's a whole other issue, but I'd love to know how. If I want to visit old story instances in other places, I visit a pool. If I want to revisit old instances like this, don't I have the option everywhere else? Now those instances are lost and gone after completion?

I'd just like a confirmed and detailed explanation about the pools and revisiting old quests. That would settle a lot.

Past history indicates that you will not get a reply from a Turbine employee in this thread. However, also based on past history, I believe they'd tell you to put in a bug report for anything that seems to not be working correctly and to include as many details about the specific situation as possible. They basically claim that the people that read the forums are not the people that deal with this kind of thing, but the people that read the bug reports are.

However, if you're more blowing off steam, then I apologize for sidetracking the thread!

Not really blowing off steam. I think you're right about not holding my breath for a reply. I've made other inquiries about this specific topic and haven't heard anything, but not until I was actually trying to help someone in this way did I realize all the implications.

I will do as you suggest and bug it, but I don't remember what private instance it was (since he was the one needing the help and he was the one that could interact with the NPC in the Thinglad region). Perhaps they cannot help fix the bug, but maybe they can find out for us what the policy is, if there was a change, what the mechanic is now, what they'll be doing moving forward, etc.

Not to mention, perhaps someone else knows what to do here. I've scoured The Great River and can't find it, but maybe it's somewhere I haven't looked. Maybe there is a way around it.

Thanks for your replies in any event.
