nobody owns the content from base game shadows of angmar unless you purchase the quest packs, purchasing SoA only ever gave you 30 days of game time, disks box and manual, beyond the 30 days you rented the content. this has not changed except you now can access the 4 starter countrys and lonelands for free and explore other areas, kill mobs and harvest resources in areas you do not own the quest pack for

you retain access to anything which youve actualy purchased, quest packs, expansion etc regardless of your subscription status

If this is true seems rather a con either i go vip or pay more than a sub to unlock the original content .. i can see it being fair enough for those who never purchased SoA and have used the ftp model from the start but for me its semes its making having to get contnet i already should have .

Before LOTRO went ftp you had to pay a monthly fee to access all content, even SOA. The ftp model loosens this requirement quite a bit, letting you get a taste of the areas, but making you pay for the quest packs in the different areas beyond the starter zones and the Lone Lands. You have to pay under both business models, just the ftp to more explicit about what content you are buying.

but you never actualy purchased anything more than gametime, beyond which you lost all access to the game, and convience of installing from disk without the need to download, if you actually owned the game ourtight prior to f2p you would have not needed a subscription

the content you have\had on the DvD is and still is free to download for anybody, the DvD saved you the need to download the game

this has been asked many many times both here and on the codemasters forums when they had the game, the answer is always the same

if you want an offical answer then you need to raise a ticket with support, or try PMing one of the forum mods but they will also tell you the same

Your agreement with Turbine at the time when you (and I) bought SoA was that you had to pay a subscription in order to access the game. If you paid, you could play in any zone. If you didn't pay, you couldn't even log in.

They have changed the rules so that if you do not pay a subscription, you can still log in. You can travel to any zone. You can get all the quests and deeds in Ered Luin, the Shire, Breeland, and the Lonelands, plus in any expansion zones you purchased (Moria and Mirkwood). You only have access to the Epic quest series in all the other non-expansion zones... unless you subscribe.

So, back when you bought SoA if you let your subscription lapse, you got nothing.

Now, you can log in and play even if you don't subscribe. You just don't get quests and deeds in all the zones, unless you BUY their quests packs (which you have done when you bought expansions).

In what way have you lost anything? Other than the idea you had that if you didn't subscribe, you would still get everything you used to have back when you were paying a monthly fee?
