    Angry Ripped Off By Rohan???

I just went over to the Turbine web store to find the price of the expansion has risen form £46 to £52!! now I was already a little annoyed at the huge price tag for a expansion but now I am furious, I love playing Lotro I don't mind the £20 for my 60 day game time cards and regularly purchase Turbine Point cards but now I feel im being abused, ok no one is making me buy the pack but if I want the 6th inventory bag im going to have to buy the 'leg' pack', This is just way too much for so little in return, any explanation for the rise in cost?

    Two quick things.

First, if the price seems to have changed dramatically on one of the editions, make sure the problem of tax being charged twice has not returned. Which edition are you looking at? when was it the lower price?

Second, if all that interests you in the Legendary Edition is the 6th bag, I'd suggest waiting for September and buying it from the LOTRO Store with Turbine Points.

You can get the 6th bag in the Turbine store once RoR launches. It's an account wide purchase as well. So if all you are wanting out of the legendary edition is the 6th bag you are better off buying the base edition then buying the bag in the store once it goes live. Now if you are interested the crystals for your LI's, then you may be better off buying the legendary edition as those will be 995tp a pop and you get one per character (bound to character) with the legendary edition.

It's up to you to decide if the pricing is worth it.

I remember seeing threads about why this happened. It was due to the exchange rate between the USD and the euro, since turbine is an american based company, and the whole tax part of it... something like that anyhow...

BTW how can I find out if it is a tax issue? and thanks for your comments

OOo now were talking!! I didn't realise that you got a crystal per character, I'm grumbling because for the extra coin, I suppose its a great pack with the steed and cool cosmetics but not impressed with the extra money, if it is a tax issue well all will be forgiven

What happens is, if you add the expansion to your cart from the US screen, and then change the currency to €, the shop adds US VAT, because the $-price is without VAT.
If you change to one of the european screens first, you get your correct 64.99€.

The problem is that the shop-system defines nationality based on the language flag in the top right corner but really should look at your billing adress.

Edit: you can see it on the screenshots, if it says VAT included it is an european screen, if not it's the US-screen with currency changed to Euro.

I can well believe that somewhere along the line taxation has caused an increase - but the exchange rate hasn't fluctuated that wildly since RoR was first put on pre-order. If Turbine responds making reference to exchange rates, it suggests either that they are being disingenuous, or, more likely, that the original price was a human error.

Is there not an option to pay in USD? For RoI, those of us in the EU/UK got a much better deal paying in USD than in the Euro/GBP

The legendary pack at $69.99 is around £45 when converted. If you click the GB flag it changes to £51.99. I bought it using dollars but it still costs the £51.99 as tax is added. I think this is where you maybe getting confused the price has not gone up they have been the same price since the pre-order started.

The exchange rate might have something to do with it aswell.

£46 is the base price (69.99 USD)

£52 is the base + 15% VAT included as per your laws (US purchasers have tax added after you put it in the shopping cart, partially because the sales tax rates in the US vary wildly from 0 to 10% or more)
