Can't make an account for daughter.

Been trying to make an account for my daughter but it keeps saying:

"Thank you for your interest in Lord of the Rings Online™. We apologize, but you are not currently eligible to register."

    All fields filled out successfully.
She meets the age requirements 13+.
Have tried on multiple email addresses.

Main reason I joined LotR was because it was one of the games my daughter was interested in. No point becoming VIP if she can't even make an account.

Hmm... made an account for her mum. It worked. So is 13+ the actual age requirement? If not than what is because I have read some Kinship/Guilds require players to be 15+ which means that there are at least some players under 15 who are on LotR?

Ive encountered this problem aswell when a friend of mien wanted her 11 year old son to play with her, i suggested to her just to put the birthday at 16+. The problem was solved then.

It will most likely boil down to minors not being allowed to authorise credit card transactions. Age requirement for lotro is probably 13-ish via pegi standards, but age requirement for anything to do with billing is going to be "fully grown up".

the ESRB raiting for this game is T for teen which should mean anydbody over 12 should be able to create an account with their correct birthdate

if your or your daughter cant create an account try using american date formats when entering the birth date ie month\day\year sometimes the system gets confused if you use EU date formats

if you still cant create an account contact turbine support who are usualy happy to help

Thanks for the quick responses. This forum community seems genuinely helpful and I get a very positive vibe from the game community when playing (one of the reasons I want my daughter on this game and not others). Unfortunately I do think it might be her age (purchasing issues and not 13+ information legislature). She's a really honest kid and won't lie (and my profession of choice frowns on it as well). So does anyone know how I would go about contacting Turbine on this issue? Also, can I make purchases for her account (eg make her a VIP)?

you can contact turbine by phone or raising a ticket
To submit a ticket, go here (und hier, et ici) or you can call the support team to speak to someone (1-781-407-4020 Noon-8:45pm EDT Monday-Friday).
If you are over-seas and dont want to pay for international calling, you can always use Google Voice or Skype.
you could also create yourself a second account and allow your daughter to "borrow" the account, so long as you dont give her your password you should be ok

there should be no problems im aware of using your credit\debit card on multiple accounts but you could use a cc to pay for one account and register your cc with paypal to pay for the second account. but too use your cc\debit card on an account afaik the account needs to be in your name

As far as I understand the following from the Turbine support page, that COULD be the problem.

Several years ago, I gave my nephew a copy of the game for Christmas and then used my own credit card to pay for a lifetime subscription on his account, though his account was in his name and I'd already used the same credit card on my own account. It wasn't an issue then. (That was three and a half years ago, and I don't know what changes have been made in Turbine's accounting software in the meantime, so I can't promise that it still works now, but I'd think it should.)

In that scenario, the problem was that both subscriptions were under the same account, and the account could only have one card assigned to it. Multiple cards on the same account is a different issue than multiple accounts paid by the same card.

Sent a Ticket about this issue to Turbine. They have yet to respond. Interestingly they were quick to respond to another Ticket I sent later on which dealt with payment issues. Yeah I understand the business reasons behind it. However when it boils down to it I doubt either myself or my daughter's mother will pay subscriptions for ourselves if our daughter can't legally / technically join as well. So three people not subscribing (plus all my daughter's friends who are turning thirteen and looking for an MMO to join and their parents who want to supervise them etc). There are many other games my daughter and her friends are now interested in wherein we don't face this hassle. Doubt I'm the first parent who has had this issue. Unlike myself, most probably don't bother making contact with Turbine and move on to a more family friendly game. Hopefully I'll get a response soon as I quite like this game.
