Thread: Hunter LI choice- sword? dagger? something else?

Hi I am having a 2nd age made for a hunter friend and I was wondering what type to make. I see loads of hunters running around with swords. However swords give you a +hit chance rate which I am guessing you guys are capped at due to tons of agility. What do you like LI wise? My friend's race = man.

It doesn't matter; pick what you like. You shouldn't be in melee range for long, if at all.

Go with the racial bonuses. Elf/Human - Sword. Hobbit - Club. Dwarf - Axe.

Melee weapon choice is absolutely irrelevant. The key is the legacies that the weapon has. Look for +precision crit, +needful haste, -beneath notice or +AOE targets as majors, AR healing, IC power restore, PO cooldown and SS parry/evade as minors.

Of course, with proposed changes -DF cooldown will also be a sought-after legacy for trolololololol purposes...

Like people said, it doesn't really matter. However i took an axe, because the best offhand for hnt in the game is an axe atm so in that case i wanted to wear 2 at the same time. Axes are also great because they can lower your targets armour when you hit them in melee... Good for overall group damage.

And for that very reason I chose a dagger

i don't think there's >that< much of a difference...
1% critical modifier, "low" chance of lowering armor, etc...
Choose based on legacies and how it looks XD

Funny, I had the exact same thought, having one massive axe hanging on your hip just seems a little unbalanced, the second one completes the look.

I use a Spear as an homage to SoA days. Technically speaking you'd want to use a Sword for the increased likelihood of Low-cut and stuff hitting.

I'm using a sword for 2 reasons :

- I'm elf and have sword damage bonus trait.
- So far the best off-hand weapon that fit my game i found is the PvMP rank8 seeker's blade, and I found my toon will look better with 2 swords

Btw any choice of weapon type is good, i mean the bonuses are so low you won't see any changes.

and the bonuses only apply to auto attacks anyway. and a second age mainhand with 3 crystals and maxxed DPS legacy, coupled with a teal offhand that does the same amount of DPS will only do 300-350 DPS in melee. 2% of 300 = 6 more DPS IF you stand in melee. and IF you put points into your DPS legacy.

most hunters i inspect on brandywine barely put points into their main hand DPS legacy, so they can expect about 200 DPS or 4 DPS increase from a racial bonus.

4-6 DPS compared to over 1000 DPS isn't even worth mentioning.

it's like Bank of America trying to persuade Bill Gates to open a saving account that earns a penny a year in interest for every hundred dollars in the account.

I use swords for the Man racial bonus and because I just prefer the look of them, but it really doesn't matter much.
