    Recommendation for a USB headset

While not exactly off-topic, but still of benefit within LOTRO, I am looking for some recommendations for USB headsets.

Right now, I have a Microsoft LiveChat LX-3000, and it's OK, but when using it for in-game voice chat, a lot of people tell me they cannot hear me well. I've got all the settings tweaked as best as I can: voice volume and gain are at 100%, and the hands-free capture is very low. I figure it's the way the microphone happens to be more positioned near my ear, and lousy gain on the microphone itself.

So I'd like to find something a bit better, and modern. I'd prefer a USB digital headset.

I actually heard that those mics were pretty good. I just bought a cheap 10 dollar headset that seems to work great. Have you tried adjusting your settings inside of windows itself? I found with mine I had issues with people hearing me after adjusting the settings but it was just a matter of repositioning the microphone a little closer to my mouth.

A little costly Creative labs make some good headsets. The one draw back to all the headsets I had was the wires would get mess up over time. I went with Wireless usb headset. They tend to have 6 hours of use before needing to recharge. Depending on how loud you have it.

This is what I've done in the past--the in-game LotRO settings at 100% aren't enough. There should be a tab for mic in your audio configuration with a slider.

Here is also a link with advice that I saved a while ago. http://www.keenandgraev.com/2011/10/...t-headset-buy/

I have a USB Logitech headset that I'm pretty happy with. I selected it since it has both windows and mac compatability so it will work with LOTRO when I'm booted into windows using boot camp and also when I'm running in OSX.

I would go for Logitech if you could. I used a bluetooth earpiece with an old Kingston dongle till I upgraded my OS. If you have the money read up on the Turtle Beach headsets they sound great but I haven't tried the mic. And remember you get what you pay for!

TS if you like USB I highly recommend the Razer Megalodon.

They are amazingly comfortable and have excellent sound. Also they look very nice if you like that. They come in a very nice box encased in a cool zip case, with some little extras inside. And they have 7.1 surround by just pressing a button.

They cost a little extra but I think they are well worth it.

Turtle Beach px3's now replaced by a newer version but very comfortable to wear all day and wireless as well is what I use, before that had the Creative Fatality ones, mic wasn't so hot on the Creatives but the sound was good - the bass was especially good.
Proud to be a 2013 Lotro Player Council member - my ears are always open but for the 907th time - I CAN'T GET FLYING GOATS PUT INTO GAME.
