Angry Did you really delete my characters?!?!?!?!

I am telling every single LOTR fan I know that this game, this company is absolute garbage, because spending months of my life leveling up my old characters and playing this game only to come back and find my characters gone and all the server names changed... disgusts me. It is completely RIDICULOUS that I should be gone for a couple months and then find that you guys have deleted all my stuff without my permission. And to think I used to really like this game... Congrats on your screwup!

We never delete characters and no server names have been changed in the 5 years the game has been live. We have, however, added many servers over the years and added the former EU servers to our list. For example, if you left prior to the release of Free to Play, there were 11 servers. We added 4 more at F2P launch, and 14 more when we included the EU servers.

What server did you play on prior to your leaving?

With a July 2011 join date, I'm going to assume you were a former Codemasters player.

If so, you received many warnings about having to migrate from Codemasters to Turbine manually because for legal reasons Turbine was unable to do so automatically.

Migration closed in November 2011. If you did not migrate, you are out of luck, because again for legal reasons your Codemasters data is gone.

"Couple months" indeed. It's June 2012.

If you were not on a Codemasters server, you have not provided any useful information with which your problem could be solved. If you just wanted to whinge, kindly do it elsewhere.

Turbine has never deleted anyone's characters EVER, nor have they ever deleted "all their stuff". There are people who stopped playing in 2007 and have returned to find everything pretty much the way they left it.

Sadly, if your account was with Codemasters in Europe, you only had a 6-month window in which to migrate your account so that Turbine could get your data in order to preserve it.

It would really help if you calmed down enough to tell us what server you were playing on and what is missing. It is possible that your account was hacked, although those folks usually don't delete the characters.

Won't YOU feel silly if all your stuff is still there... and all that happened was that you picked the wrong server from the launcher?

    this ^^

if you previously played on the service provided by codemasters in the EU then id suggest looking on the former EU servers for your characters. makesure you logon to the game with the account created during the migration and manually search the former EU servers

Withywindle, Snowbourn, Evernight, Eldar, Gilrain, [EN-RP] Laurelin, [DE] Gwaihir, [DE] Anduin, [DE] Morthond, [DE] Maiar, [DE] Vanyar, [DE-RP] Belegaer, [FR] Sirannon, [FR-RP] Estel

or try logging onto the forums with the account created during the migration which im guessing is the account your now posting from and check the characters tab which should list all your characters
or if that fails click on the home tab > click widgets and add the character sheet widget then click on the edit widget settings (spanner icon) where you should see a list of all your characters

if your your 100% sure your using the correct account and still cant find your toons raise a ticket with support
    support.turbine.com
they should be able to tell you which server they are on

While I'm certainly being blunt, because I've lost patience for people and posts like this, I am not being mean nor trolling.

It's not my job, no, but it's my hobby to call out irrationality, conclusion-jumpers, and useless posts.

I don't know what Codemasters is. I only remember Turbine. And my last play was in December of 2011, and I think I played on Vilya.

Kudos for coming back to a thread where you've been publicly humiliated. Now, just apologize and it's all good!

The server names have not changed, and Turbine doesn't delete characters. The only other possibility is that your account was compromised by a hacker or someone you know who had your password.

Or maybe you're thinking of another game, if you don't even remember what server you were on in a game you spent months of your life playing.

if you last played in december 2011 then no other servers have been added since the EU migration in june, arround the time of your forum join date

if your sure you last played on Vilya and your toons are missing theres 3 possibilitys i can think of

1\your logging onto lotro with the wrong account

2\your account has been hacked. in which case you need to be 100% sure your using the correct account then follow the advice here
Account Hacked/Stolen - Info to Keep it From Happening, & What to do if it is Stolen.

3\you deleted the toons your self: in which case youll need to pay for the undelete service if you want your toons back

Yeah, well given that he accuses Turbine of changing all the server names, when he says he used to play on Vilya(which is right there in the server list where it always was), should tell you how much stock to put in this guys words.

Haha, I got a message from an anonymous poster about my post in this thread:

It is inflammatory and unhelpful to ask an obviously distraught customer to apologize.
I apologize if someone thought I was trying to be helpful. I was merely trying to embody the absurdity of coming onto a forum and making wildly off-base claims unsubstantiated by any evidence and which libel an entire company. If there are no consequences to acting stupidly--such as someone pointing and laughing--then there's really no motivation to stop, is there?
