The main game isn't boring at all, just the skirmishes.

sigh... first of all, many people find skirms fun, especially in groups. second, on the cap, they have some decent rewards of their own.
and, lastly, if you need to skirm to get the gear you need, you are doing something really wrong.

I enjoy doing skirmishes

I like being able to customize my own skirmish solider that compliments my style of play to overcome challenges I otherwise couldn't. And if you find them so boring, that's probably because you do them at a challenge level below your skill level. I like to do tier3 duo ones solo for example, and that offers me more than enough challenge to keep me entertained. The random crystal drops are pretty nice also.

So my advice to you is stop spamming through mindlessly boring and easy tier1 skirmishes and up the tier some. You may not find them so boring after that.

If you don't like them don't do them, if you want better gear then make a crafting alt. Problem solved.
