There is only one version of LotRO. There's no such thing as an upgrade. Can you link what you are considering buying? Then we can explain what you'll get out of it.
LotRO has been running since April of 2007, but only been free to play since September of 2010. There are some ancient disks out there that might still be good but need translating into "free to play" terms for the current game.

If you have a credit card you might be better off subscribing directly rather than buying a card. Last time I looked, a 3 month subscription was $30... which is the same price as this 60-day Game Time Card.
Log in to your account at https://myaccount.turbine.com and look at the Lord of the Rings Online subscription section. There should be something about your subscription, and links to change it.

A bit below the subscription stuff is section "Game Card Information" and a link for Add Game Card, which is where you'd apply a card you bought. SOME folks have had trouble doing this while not a VIP or ex-VIP, which is why they contact account support after buying a time card.
it says "You have successfully upgraded your trial account for The Lord of the Rings Online™ subscription. You now have full VIP access." but account is still "Free to play Account". Need to wait some time?
The account being upgraded to VIP will almost instantly have an effect in-game. What you must be referring to is the "Free to Play" or "Trial Account" tag shortly after logging in and selecting a game server.
You can change the name of your subscription manually! All you have to do is to look slightly upwards and click the ACCOUNT button. When logged in, it will display you account status and a nickname. "Edit" the nickname to change the text displayed post -log in.
I can change account name, but account status is Free. In support I read that "Your account will be upgraded to VIP status, and you will receive your first 500 Turbine Store Points within 24 hours of upgrading your account." Think I should wait =\
You'll have to wait for the Turbine points. Although, you should be VIP after about five minutes post-purchase. So if you've waited more than that, you should be concerned. - What do I know, Turbine might be doing something and therefore delaying your VIP status for the moment. Be patient! If however you wont become VIP within 1-6 hours, contact support once more.
ok I'll wait. And one moment, on my card I have cash only in RUB exchange, not EUR, may be thats why i have problem? and there is no way to pay by WebMoney?
