    Reactive foliage

The preview of Riders said that the grass, etc., would respond to the movement of the player character. So, question is, will this be only in Rohan, or everywhere? To that point, note that the latest DDO update (14) release notes imply that they have added reactive grass everywhere in that game (old and new zones). I haven't logged in to check yet.

The answer is yes. I logged into the old Cerulean Hills zone. The foliage is very similar to that in Falathorn, although Falathorn is prettier. The effect is subtle -- nothing fantastic -- but it's there. Sorta like when they added DX10 shadows to trees in LOTRO: not essential, but nice.

For the record, here are the relevant DDO graphics notes:

"On the highest graphics settings, when facing the camera towards the sun, its rays will now beam down at you or peer through the trees with warm illuminating goodness."

"On higher graphics settings wheat, reeds, grasses, and other ground frills will now react when an avatar passes through them."

exactly as described above - they'll have put some code in to sway the frills as you go past, and that will stand for wherever you are in game

Note, this doesn't seem to mean that they re-planted/painted the foliage each zone. DDO's Cerulean Hills don't really look any better/different. It's just that the foliage that was there now wobbles a bit as you pass through it.
