Thumbs down Rude players on Snowbourn server

People on my server are making me want to quit all together

every now and then there's some idiot trolling in globallff
then there's a huge keyboard fight

and when you have nothing but fellowship quests to complete you get to enjoy the fellowships full of people who are rude, arrogant and seem to have some sort of anger problem.

At level 62 where is the next place i can go that has mainly solo quests? I cannot deal with other level 60 - 75 players right now. Things were better in Ered Luin D:

Basically the entire game is solo questing.

You can solo from 1-75 through 99.99% of the quests in every zone of the game. I have with seven characters. It's purely by choice if you wish to seek groups for stuff.

As an example, you can go all alone to Forochel and complete 99% of the zone all alone. There are only two or three quests that say "small fellowship" on them, and one is actually soloable. The other two are not but they can simply be ignored.

Same goes for every other zone in Lotro. Angmar might have the most fellowship oriented quests. But they can all be ignored as well.

If you are not enjoying the people on your server, have you thought of starting over on another server or if you don't mind paying the fee, transferring your character to another server?

Agree that we have a lot of rude angry people on Snowbourn, best thing to do it opt out of the chat channels and if you like fellowing then join a kinship. Problem solved

    Hey Arviell!

Yes global on Snowbourn does have some trolls & exist mostly of idiots who don't know any better

But that shouldn't stop you from playing the game, just quit global or find a nice kinship. There
are plenty of those. Yes it's annoying but most of the days I don't even look in global unless I'm bored
and looking for someting to do

I have a kin as well, and we always appreciate some new blood. We try to help out where we
can and never insult each other (well maybe for jokes ). We run instances regularly and have some experienced
players in our crew. We are not a complete super pro raid team although we try to run the raids every now and then.
If you are interested just sent a mail or shout for Megamynd or Syrioforel in global or sent a tell.

Hope to see you in game and please don't quit because of trolls. We need everyone to get rid of them!

If you want to stay where you are I'd just duck out of global, don't let them ruin your gametime.

That is good advice on whatever server you're on. I've seen /glff recommended as a place to find groups. Instead, it's the place to find what That Other Game calls "barrens chat."

Snowbourn player here and I can say I rarely see any rude players when I'm playing, mostly always friendly and even help me with a fellowship quest when they don't need it Also maybe you should consider joining a friendly kinship? There's lots of kinships to choice from. (Including the one I'm in )

Uncheck the chat channels that have rude people, trolls and other jerks. Join a kinship, meet people in that kinship, depend on their friends to quest with. As a rule I uncheck OOC and after a short time on glff I got rid of that one too. Life and LOTRO is much nicer without listening to arguments and drama.

I can agree with you partly on this as I too hate the constant flood of spam in our Global Channel. I think people forget what GLFF really stands for. Yes our server has it's up's and down's.... and believe me I know, since was here from beta days. But you can hardly say that of all Snowy players. I can be quite nice

    1 Keep global on.

2: If it's a troll it's prob Zayx kidding.... haven't seen him for a while.

3: Ignore list is your friend

4: Mmm... I ran out of ideas but I'll let u know when I get more. Text me in-game.

Don't turn global off and only transfer servers if you are 100% certain this is what you want because once you do it there is no turning back. Put the people who annoy you on ignore and keep enjoying the game.. being yourself and chatting in global if you want. There is NO perfect world.. no perfect server. There are good and bad everywhere one goes in life.. including LOTRO life. I started off on Snowbourn and left for similar reasons... bullied for being dps minstrel. I regret a lot because what I realized after is that there will be bullies everywhere and it's true what they say about the grass not being greener on the other side. It's human nature for some to bully others because it gives them a sense of empowerment. I've learned it's best to ignore or to report it if it is bad enough. Best wishes.

    QFT

Some people don't know that you can put GLFF in it's own separate chat TAB.

Make sure you do this! If you leave it in general you will always be forced to leavechannel when the trolls are out.

Turn glff (userchat1) off in general TAB, and create a new TAB called GLFF and turn everything off except userchat1, LFF and TELL

Then you never need to leavechannel, you can simply click the general TAB which hides GLFF when the trolls are out

The trolls and rude players have always existed on Snowbourn, other servers I have played on have their share too, believe me.
The worst offenders you can add to your ignore list, others just try to avoid. Global is just a personal chat channel for these attention seekers, dont feed them. Remember that for every troll that you see posting in global there are ten times that many decent people reading global.

Previous posters have suggested joining a kin, good advice if you can find the right kin for you with enough people online to group with. I left Snowbourn over two years ago because of rude, selfish and so called elite players, I restarted here when I saw the majority of those players had left the game, the couple still here I totally ignore.
Dont jump at the first kin that invites you, inspect the trolls and loudmouthed players in global and see what kins they are in and avoid their kins like the plague.

Were all here to have a bit of fun and relaxation, dont let them get you down.

At level 62, I feel that you should be part way through Lothlorien, a solo area, easy to level and get kindred if you want to then at 65 either Mirkwood or Enedwaith or a mixture of both

Im sorry you had a bad experience on Snowy. I have been on the server for three years and I know what you mean about global.

I keep it on in a seperate tab and have my main tab open with only chat filters for kinship/fellow/raid and pms. Keeps it very nice.

I think someone at WoW sent all their 12 year old players a message telling them to join Snowy. I also have a level 50 hunter on Laurelin for when I need a break from Snowy and the community there seems a lot more chilled with the whole RP thing going on.

I hope you decide to stay on Snowy, we arent so bad If you need any help Im usually free in the mornings, just send a tell to Sidhraiya. Most people on here are really awesome, just a few trolls let us down.

But some people are extreemly intoerent of others and want huge private sapce that blocks out all forms of social interaction.

I've been on Snowy for four years. I just ignore mostly what's going on in global - too busy questing and kin chatting to read it a good deal of the time. You get idiots everywhere in life - I get them at work, on the train, at the zoo, down the park. Most of them will grow up and stop bickering one day. Some of them won't and will go into politics.

That's funny :P I am playing MMOs last 10 years. I always believed and still believe that lotro have the best community by far. I always play lotro now and then to relax and enjoy the good atmosphere and the kind community. I don't know maybe I compare the people here with the jerks I have met on previous MMO and that's why I find them excellent :P

By the way we all can help for a better community. Just report the people doing this and let the gamemasters deal with them..at first they will get warnings and after some temporary ban.

Join a great kin like mine, then you'll always be able to fellow when you have to and you'll be treated with utmost friendship I was never going to join one, but after being invited to an instance by randoms, (One i reallllly had to do, because I'm stuck on level 41 at the moment!) they asked me to join and they were such a lovely bunch I couldn't say no!

I believe the kin is for Level 40 minimum (And the only ones lower levels than that are alts) so i can ask the leader for you if you want to join

Edit: Oh, and they have the most amazing kin house in Bree with lots of beer in the trunks! If that doesn't sway you, what will? =P

Can't say I've ever had any problems on Snowbourne though and it's the only server I've ever used. Guess it depends where you are and who you meet, but perhaps you've just been unlucky. I haven't even had to ignore someone on the channels before!

I started on Snowbourne as a new player to LotRO a couple of weeks ago and am on through the day and into early evening. I have globallff and although there's a bit of banter on there I can't say I've particularly noticed much in the way of aggro or trolling. Maybe it's a time thing?

I'm not in a Kinship and solo nearly everything. I'm a full time carer for my disabled wife, so I'm frequently AFK for varying periods - sometimes a minute or so - sometimes 30 minutes or more and I have to exit the game for a little while, which makes it very hard to commit to a group or Kinship. I like to see the chatter - it reminds me it's an online game and there are people out there :-p

    I like Snowy...glad I chose it!

Welcome! Snowbourn is a good server for solo players because you don't get the trolling and griefing that seems to have erupted on other servers Some people just take the game a bit seriously when grouping.

Strange always got a lot of help and find kind ppl on snowbourne... (at lv20 i find ppl that craft full set of armor for free) the only rude chat full of ego players is OOC in EM, but globlal is fun and great generally.

Google is your friend my friend ^-^

I've chosen to play a Warden as my main (now level 30) so I use Google a LOT for information!!

    It's my first go-to place for anything I don't know :-)

    Thumbs up

Hi I'm on Snowbourn and solo play. I don't get to play very often (joined 3 years ago and am still only level 52!) being a busy working mum, and I play to relax, so the last thing I want is to be stressed out by rude people. Plus I'm not very good so could do without insults from others. but if you're ever looking for someone meek and mild and friendly to help out while you are on, just give me a shout

Well OP i can't say that has been my experience and if it is yours maybe you are doing something to make these people rude and hostile. I've met some lovely people on Snowbourne, especially at lower level fellowship quests where there has been absolutely no expectations of skill or knowledge and a lot of tolerance for poor play. At the cap, well there's been a couple of gear and playstyle facists or impatient people unwilling to explain a fight but that's far from the majority and you can usually avoid them as they are the ones saying "experienced only, nobody who will roll against me on..." or those saying "75s only" for a level 50 instance.

As to complaining about GLFF, well the lack of a global OOC channel on snowy is a problem but it's too embedded to change now and really it's something you can opt in or out of at your leisure. I don't enjoy a lot of the silly little dramas but some obviously do. It's an mmo, you are going to come into contact with people who will annoy you just as you do in real life. The game does not force you together with these people and even provides mechanisms to avoid them entirely, if you can't deal with that i don't think moving server is the answer.

But that shouldn't stop you from playing the game, just quit global or find a nice kinship. There
are plenty of those. Yes it's annoying but most of the days I don't even look in global unless I'm bored
and looking for someting to do
What Mega said. I've run with him and he is indeed a friendly sort, as are we and our kin.

I can certainly sympathise with many of the comments here. I have a level 28 hunter on Withywindle and was today invited to do The Barrow quests. One of the group ended up friending me, but the others did not communicate and, at the end of it, ended up swearing at me for no reason. I logged off entirely for a while after that. If I want to deal with rude, snotty-nosed school kids, I'd go back to playing WoW. I think I'll have to stick to asking my kinship for help.

LOTRO is a MMO. This means there will be a wide spread social population, starting with your little kids of 8+ into the adolesent teenies, premature 20+ and maturer 30+ and oldies 40+.

You will never ever be able to get all under one hat, nor (as also in real life) get people to follow simple rules.

I personally point a finger at Turbine for not making an offical game channel for global LFF (also for Trade / OOC).
If we had this official channel, then turbine would be able to enforce simple Netiquette for that channel.
As is the user channels are not policed by Turbine.

All you can do, as people have suggested is live with it, ignore the really bad ones, find a kinship and do group content with them, etc.
