Thread: Sometimes I Wonder

I'm just curious, recently I took the time to read ALL (I did actually read them) the recent various arguments popping up about soloing, grouping, raiding and of course the undeniably skilled players of the "garnival." As I scrolled through and read wall after of text, the arguments degraded from the beginnings of an intelligent conversation, to basic "you're OP, no YOU'RE OP" or "you suck, no YOU suck." And all the while I sit there wondering if people realize a few simple things.

1. There are skilled players on both sides, who've played for many years, and are a big part of our PvMP community, let's not forget that.

2. If you look at DPS charts from Combat Analysis, other than the obvious special cases from either high ranked or high geared players, many classes are closer in total DPS over X amount of time than you might think.

3. Tactics and Strategy does make a big difference in the moors, and can be the deciding factor between who wins and loses, even in unbalanced fights.

4. There is a large difference in POTENTIAL to put out HPS by freeps, no one should deny that GOOD Minis and RKs will break a Defiler's healing into the dust, but this is NO INDIVIDUALS FAULT. They are simply playing their class the way it was DESIGNED by Turbine. (Please don't yell at me saying I wear creep goggles, but I've yet to see a defiler break 1k HPS on a consistent basis, whereas on in the moors on Amlios I'm pretty disappointed in myself if I go lower than 1.5k in a group[No FH/TS] that's with movement on both sides, it's really just the facts guys.)

5. It's a game, let's just have fun, granted some people take it way more seriously than others, but are personal attacks really ever necessary, I can understand logging over to say nice fights and chat about 1v1s or saying hi to a friend, but are the hate tells/mails from unknown alts really necessary, as well as the unnamed forums user blasting others with PMs and angry posts?

Anyhow, these are a few points I think while I read my anti warg pack hate mail and the forums and shake my head wondering what has happened to the community at the points where it degrades down to Troll-A-Saurus Rex and the Trolly-Polies, because I really do think that if people take the time to step back a second and look some of these arguments from both sides, much of the day to day anger, hate, and disputes in the moors and forums could be avoided.

Hate tells, mail, PMs, or whatever are silly and should only be laughed at or put in signature lines.

A good forum spar should yield forum commendations, which can, in turn, be used to purchase an ugly forum skin and "Paucity," a stat which measures the diminishing returns on the effort Turbine puts into PvP in relation to the effort player base puts in.

If I'm getting hate /tells, usually I just figure I'm doing my job. Most of them are anti-pack tirades anyway, and I pretty much just blow those off now. The arguments and statements never change My only peeve there is that the freeps behind the tells usually hide their identities.

As for rage /tells about how I play? Well, I don't define winning in life by how well I play a game. I play for fun and to be social. I know I'm not the best. I don't pretend to be. How I play (solo, grouped, mixed raid, pack) reflects how I feel, not how someone else thinks I should be playing.

Overall, though, it seems the frustration levels (on both sides, but more pronounced on creepside) are running higher now than ever.

Dude, the amount of people I have on ignore is just off the charts. From classy players like Tre, who has explained in detail about how many ways he has had intercourse with members of my family, yea, real classy guy we have here. And numerous others who I have either trolled or fought into hate tells and OOC hate of various sorts. Regardless of what you may think of me as a player, never have I done that sort of thing to people over a game. I may come over and ask if godmode or the zerg of 50 is really required but thats about it.

Tactical Damage and Zergs does make a big difference in the moors, and can be the deciding factor between who wins and loses, even in unbalanced fights.

I agree wholeheartedly .. but it seems we have some incredibly immature forumites (on both sides) who do the most protesting, name-calling and degradation of discussions/debates into personal attacks. I can only believe it's either because they are still too young to have adult conversations or they are intentionally trolling/flaming to compensate for some other personal/moral deficiency. It's a game for god's sake <face_boggle>
