Thread: why did my name change?

I realised today that my nickname got changed today,my question is WHY? my nickname was alexdmz and now is KALGILTHA.i play lotro for years and i have never seen that before and i have never tried to scam anyone

Only reason I can think for they to change name like Alexdmz would be that you are playing on Laurelin..
Laurelin is roleplaying server and has more strict rules regarding names and so.
And damn if you have been playing on Laurelin with this name for years without someone reporting your name Thats nice luck there.

If your Alexdmz was not on Laurelin.. Then try writing a ticket and asking a GM what the heck was that name change about
I btw googled that DMZ could not be abbreviation for any drug or so :P I know DMT and wouldnt wonder if they would not allow that.. but dmz.. could come up only with 'de militarized zone' etc

There are some naming conventions. In this case, I think you have too many consonants behind each other in 'alexdmz' . That name is unpronouncable. Some added vowels towards the end could have avoided the rename. Usually names only get changed once they get reported. So far, you were lucky nobody got it into his head to report your name.

A quick search suggests you are on Laurelin, the roleplaying server. That means that since your old name was not lore appropriate, they changed it for you.

geeze, if that is so then why wouldnt they have explained the situation and given him a chance to do the rename himself? a char name is very personal. how intrusive and gestapo of them

You'd have to buy a character rename. Laurelin is the only server that has a strict naming policy, since they're the roleplay designated server. You may want to switch servers, if you're not into roleplaying.
