I remember being able to tank right off the bat on my Guard, can I do the same on my Warden? I'm gonna try and convince some friends to get on alts to GB with me when I hit 20, do I really have any AoE threat skills other that Goad? I know losing a few mobs doesn't matter at low levels, it happened on my Hunt, but I wanna see how long I can keep mobs on me. Just spam Goad? Also, this is the awesomest forum on LotRO .
P.S. Is there any point in time when Wardens are not awesome? Pulling three spiders on my Hunt in Chetwood was like "OH SHIP! NOOOOO! IM GONNA DIIIEEEE!!!!!!" Now it's just "Meh. Lemme pull the rest of the forest." (I tried that BTW, got everything in thr Brigand camp... Needless to say, some serious killing happened that day... By the brigands...)
P.S.S. Why is it most of the people who have Wardens as their main (that I know at least), used to hqve a Hunter as their main. I think I'm going in that direction too, but I can't see the connection.
Thanks!
By level 20, you will also have War Cry, which is a AoE Threat, and Maddening Strike, which transfers a small amount of threat from the fellowship to you. Those will be your bread and butter gambits for tanking at that level. On a single target, like a boss, you can spam Precise Blow. You can also use PB to pull-off any strays, as well.
Starting early is a very good way to understand how a Warden tanks. It is a very active process to say the least.
Thanks Is Maddening Strike AoE? Like do I take threat from every fellow for every mob? Or just the mob that I have targeted? And should I always have my HoTs on, even with a healer so that I get more aggo?
Maddening Strike will pull threat from every fellowship member to you, which, again, is great because healers move to the top of the threat rating pretty quickly. It's also helpful in fights with adds, since they should go for the highest threat target.
Your HoTs will not be enough to challenge a healers output to affect threat. However, they are good to have in your rotation because it makes the healer's job a bit easier and keeps you alive.
I am finding Tanking with low level Wardens a total pain now. Whereas before I would use Determination Stance, that is denied to me until level 20 and instead I get Recklessness stance which actually reduces your tanking ability. And since I can't use Determination, it means that I have lost the ability to do any HoTs. Turbine should have either allowed us to keep Determination, or at least not made HoTs unavailable unless you are using it!

You get the Determination Stance at level 20, thaat being said if you are tanking at any levels from 1-20 the best stance is no stance because of the fact it does not lower your B/P/E like recklessness does
and also at level 20 when you do go to tank for the Warden ask your parteners to give you a 5 second head start to get they one extra war cry off, you never know it could help in the long also, after you do all of your threat skills build up your B/P/E and rotate between that and threat, once your B/P/E buffs are about to go down get a war cry off build it back up and so on until the mobs are dead
What do you tank before level 20? Everything pre 20 is soloable.
Was about to say the same thing . Also, thanks for all the replies guys . My power is on and off today and yesterday so won't get much, if any, play time this weekend.
