Thread: Kinship advice please

Greetings!

I have cautiously begun searching for a kinship to join here on Laurelin, but even after rooting through websites I am still no closer to finding a home. I apologise for starting a whole thread about this, but I would greatly appreciate some feedback from you guys. About me: no RP to RP-Lite (but am willing to learn!), highest level char is 42, Elven Hunter, I do have access to voice chat if that matters, and most importantly, I am noticeably shy in groups and would really enjoy someplace where I could just watch and listen for a while before beginning to volunteer myself for duties and events. Shyness aside, I am very much looking forward to making new friends here on Laurelin.

Elven kins I know of off hand are The laiquendi order - there an rp kin, but I think there always willing to offer a starting place for people trying to find their feet in the world, look for Taramthir or Clill for more information. There's also Linna Na Gelaidh - a light hearted mixed kin, also happy to help players find their feet - seek out Nimlith or Miji in game for more information.

the protecters of the dunedain are also fun and helpful. an active mixed kin. that is light to medium RP. look for "Kalesiar" or i think "Laliniel".

Question is what kind of RP you want to get more involved with, as there are various, such as Hobbit-only, Elf-only, Dwarf-only and Men-only (there are many sub-categories here, such as Rohirric-only for those who RP a man/woman from Rohan, Rangers, Bree-folk for those who like to rp a mere man/woman from Bree-town or the nearby areas etc.) which they give a more immersive experience and all together add more immersion to the world of Middle-earth and make it feel and look more believable than in any other server

If you want an RP lite kinship then perhaps dont look to what are kinships which focus a lot on RP. There is a Kinship called the Silver Blades led by Helos, shes really nice. I was with the Silver Blades for a long time when i first moved server from Snowborne.

This is the Silver Blades website. They enjoy the aspects of the game itself and also mix some RP into their activities, plus they are a very friendly supportive kinship. Its a good place to start to get grounded before perhaps stepping into a Kinship whose prime focus is roleplay.

I just had a quick look at the Silver Blades website... the way everything is represented its wonderful! The music, the art-style, the book, very nice. Credit where credit's due

Vanimar would worth a look if you are confident about what you have read about Middle-earth, and you feel keen to roleplay among age average high, friendly Tolkien fans (its Elven only).

If you are still looking then you may find sanctuary with Sanctuary. Casual, light RP, with a large group of friends that has been growing since before the game was in beta and with a consistent core of addicts complemented by many travellers that regularly come and go but never leave.

We have a regular kin gathering on a Monday, with ad hoc instances and questings and raids as and when on other nights.

At present we are also putting together an alt night, to firstly assist our lower level players and also to provide something different to the normal level cap grind, that those long term players are going through.

Majority of our players fall into the mature bracket.

Laiquendi is also a good option, Lina na gelaidh, there is also Vanimar (heavy-Lore RP).
