New to LI - question thread!

Ok, just returned to Lotro from a loooong break, played at release and never really learned the whole LI thing. Now trying to figure it out is to say the least, overwhelming. Most threads also seem outdated.

Have some initial (hopefully) easy questions.

A: I am lvl 60 now and if I understand it correctly, its no use to slot 6 LI and level them all up to 31 anymore. Instead I should just keep the 2 LI I currently use and lvl them until I update them on my way to 75. Only then should I keep max amount of LI slotted and lvl up. Correct or?

B: When I decide to slot a relic to lvl up to 31+, that relic will give me a legacy scroll based on one (random) of the LI´s currect legacies when I decon it?

Thankful for any pointer or links to a current updated FAQ or Dummies guide to LI for new/old players.

    Thanks in advance.

Any LIs you level and deconstruct will give you some relics (the number depends on what level the LIs achieve), IXP runes, legendary shards/fragments and a legacy replacement scroll at level 30. LIs of equip level 64 and lower give legacy replacement scrolls that work only on items up to equip level 65. LIs of equip level 65 and up will give legacy replacement scrolls that work on your level 75 LIs. At level 60 and below you get legendary shards. You don't need those. You will need some legendary fragments from level 61&up legendary items to construct 2nd age weapons at level 75.

Thus, I would continue to equip 6 LIs while leveling in order to accumulate relics, IXP runes, and legendary fragments. Until level 65, you shouldn't level them too high, but just enough to get a good return on relics (maybe level 11). After 65, level the ones with legacies you want to stockpile up to 31 to get a good number of relics along with your legacy replacement scroll.

You choose which legacy you want to keep from your LI. There will be a dialog box that appears if you deconstruct a LI that has been leveled up to or past 30.

    A. incorrect, have max LI at all times. You are losing IXP if you don't, and more IXP= more relics = more shards = better relics.
    B. no need to slot a relic, but yes every lvl 30+ LI you decon will give you a Tier 2 legacy scroll of your choice from any of the legacies that LI currently has.

    B. part 2. Decon at lvl 60 for the best IXP rune + relics worth for your IXP input. Especially for any LI of lvl 66-75.

Solid advice, any tips on what legacies to look for as a Runekeeper, on the wep and the class item?

Solid advice, any tips on what legacies to look for as a Runekeeper, on the wep and the class item?
Runekeepers tend to use multiple weapons and class items at endgame, a specific pair of items for each role. So they have a stone and satchel set up specifically to give them the most dps, and another pair set up to maximise healing. Maybe even 2 dps sets, one for lightning and one for fire. And some will have LIs specifically set up to be used in PvMP.

But if you are leveling you probably want to focus on a general purpose dps set with some survivability benefits.

Here's a list of the legacies.

I might go with anything that increases your lightning dps or your healing output on your rune stone: Fury of Storm Damage, Healing, Healing Over Time, Finesse Rating, or Fury of Storm Critical Multiplier. For the satchel, maybe Scribe's Spark Damage, Writ of Health Healing, Mending Verse Healing, or Ceaseless Argument Damage.

I wouldn't be picky, though. You will probably replace your main items so frequently while leveling that you will never get enough points to max out these legacies. But there's plenty of time for that when you reach level cap.

I'd search the rune-keeper forum for more specific advice (I'm sure this question comes up quite frequently).

Once again, thanks for the input. The community is what really brought me back to Lotro. Helpful and friendly.

Any other advice you think I, or any other newbie should need, feel free to keep em coming!

    Cheers.

    1. Never save too much on relics. It gets easier with each level to get them, so no need to stockpile much at lower levels.
    2. The calculations have changed so that, once you get LIs with an equip level of 66-75, it is most effective to level these all the way to 60 before you deconstruct
    3. stockpile high iXP runes. Personally, I keep everything from 26800 upward
    4. Visit the auction house sometimes to stockpile some LIs between the levels 66-74. In that level range you can ONLY find them as drops. It is generally recommended to get a new LI in the lvl 70-72 region, even if you have a totally tricked out lvl 65 first ager.
    5. In case you really want to trick out your LIs later, take your time to analyze other players of your class at level cap, and how they have set their LIs up. It will save you some
