When my kin runs Saruman, my Lore-master has the task of keeping Frost-Lore on the main Saruman to minimize the damage he throws out.&
My question is now that I am trying to complete it on my burglar, if I have the Armor of Chance (pvmp gambler set) could I keep the 10s Silence on the main Saruman an remove roughly two thirds of the damage that he deals (Gambler Strike on a 15s cool down).&
&
Please don't turn this thread into a discussion as to why I am running in The Gambler line during the fight, it is my personal preference and I am geared specifically for it.&
So what your saying is that no body knows?
I can't imagine that I'm the first person to think of this strategy, and based on current in-game mechanics Silencing a tactical "caster" would equal no tactical attacks. My best comparison would be disarming a "melee" fighter which I know that there are player skills that can do that as I've seen the disarmed debuff on a mobs vitals. From this comparison I would assume that the same mechanics apply to both. Can a Dev confirm or deny?
Disarm is equivalent to silence only for physical DMG and not for Tactical - you can't disarm an NPC/it doesn't effect his skills - so i think that silencing a Mob (especially a Boss-Encounter) doesn't change anything...

There are no player skills that apply disarm (again not counting it being granted by a pvmp armor set). If you see an npc being disarmed outside of that scenario it is caused by a friendly npc using the disarm effect.
Hostile NPCs are not noticeably affected by either silence or disarm. Monster players however are, hence the set bonuses.

Since nobody here seems to know, it would be great to hear how any experiments you try out go. I haven't actually heard that anyone has verified that the frost lore on saruman thing does anything either, but I know people do it (and, no doubt, they've verified it and I just didn't hear about it).
I know that keeping Frost-Lore on the main Saruman does make a difference (the healers have noticed that those big Light AoE's arent as tough to heal though. I also, mostly out of habit keep SoP: See All Ends on the main Saruman which is about -2000 or more to the mobs crit rating. I dont think that this does anything because SoP:SAE or not I get the feeling that every attack is a Devastate. (Just my observations)
