Is it worth making a tanking FA?

Right now, I've got all the legacies I need with just a SA. Now that I've got a FA spear, I'm just wondering if I should make this a tanking weapon, because someone told me that a tanking FA is pointless, and that I should just make it for dps. I'd only be using it for moors and solo play, rarely in raids.

What are your opinions on this?

    Thanks

I wouldn't use a first age for tanking unless you're literally swimming in first ages lol.

Dunno about moors, but the extra DPS would definitely be handy while soloing in "tank mode", ie in Det with defensive legacies. Guess it depends on how much of that you actually do, if it'd be worth it or not.

That being said, if you want a spear for soloing, you're probably going to want a mix of offensive and defensive legacies, not a true tanking spear, anyway. Obviously, for one, threat legacies dont do you any good while solo or in the Moors.

I would not go for a FA tanking weapon on warden at the moment. The reasons are that there's hardly any difference between SA and FA for tanking. Agro numbers will stay the same. The only difference might be a minor increase to avoidances and icmr/icpr legacies. Even tho i think the difference will be so small, you wont even notice.

On the other hand, i would not suggest a FA spear for dps unless you got good dps gear. the difference between FA and SA is about 5% dps, assuming both have 3 crystals. If you have good dps gear, and still looking for ways to improve your dps then yeah go for it, is what i did

PS: I would recommend a spear and not a Jav. Assailment sustained dps is WAY too low in comparison with reck. sustained dps. So unless you got plenty of worn symbols, dont make a FA jav

I have a tanking spear. It might be useless, but I already have a useless FA book on my LM and dont want to ruin my beautiful SA cappy emblem. The warden is the class I enjoy the most, FA is better than SA in some aspects and my other options are not that great (cappy weapon? LM weapon? &&&& that ), so I made it and I enjoy watching my yellow spear only for my personal show off.

So my point is: the upgrade is not that big compared to every other class in the game, but if this is the character you play 90% of the time or even the only one you have, doing something with the symbol for it sounds reasonable to me. If you have a mini or a hunter or a burg or a rk or... that you play a lot, go for something for them.

Exactly my dilemma last week. I felt a little guilty winning it over the dps and healers in the raid actually. I agonised with myself over whether to make a dps solo level 76-85 / Moors spear. I thought about passing it to an alt. I told myself, get a grip!, Warden, and made a tanking spear.

I think it helps clarify things if you visualise what you'd do if you won a 2nd age symbol having carried a 3rd age spear around for a couple of weeks when ROI went live - as someone said above, it depends on your preferred play style. I think it's got to help, having that extra dps in any situation. It's not great that there are only 3 pool A tanking legacies for a tanking spear.

I think this also depends on what you want to DPS. Sustained DPS may be more important if you go DPS in instances with bosses (though how long do those really last?) or Raids (where you will probably be expected to tank). My dps gear is for the Moors. I find that, and maybe this is just my server so YMMV, I spend a lot of time in Assailment. While its sustained damage is lower due to less bleeds / dots being available from range its burst and upfront damage potential is massive. Especially with all the CC, Slows, Running and a constantly shifting front lines.

So, to the OP: IMHO FA tanking gear is pointless. If you spend time in the moors then make a DPS weapon to fit your play style. If your main concern is questing, overland and instances then do what you want it's your symbol. You won it so enjoy the Shiny.

I'd agree with this completely. Sadly, Warden is probably the absolute lowest priority for a first age item, as they get the absolute least benefit out of one of any class. So I made a club for my burglar with my first WSotEK. now that i've gotten a 2nd, I'm again debating whether I should give it to my Warden main, or make something else like a Captain emblem (or possibly halberd, but the chance of getting lousy passives and/or only 3 majors scares me away from that - though the 3 majors is an even bigger risk for an emblem)
