So, sometimes when I play LOTRO i am wandering around and questing and my screen goes black for a few moments and then returns to normal and this message appears:The display driver stopped responding and has recovered.
I already updated my drivers and know this keeps happening and its very annoying cuz sometimes I am fighting a mob the screen goes black and when I return I am dead.
I've had the same problem a few times, especially in instances with lots of activity (players and mobs). Since I haven't run into it that much I haven't tried much but I would suggest changing your video settings. Use DirectX 10 or 9 instead of 11, maybe turn some of the dials to be medium instead of high etc....
I would also suggest /bug it, make sure to include your video card mfg, driver version, OS version and put your email in so they can contact you with additional questions (I have no idea if they actually do that). I know, first hand, figuring out why something crashes in a driver on one machine and works fine on others is extremely difficult to track down.
It can also be indicative of a failing or overheating graphics adapter. I bought a new laptop a month or so ago (not for gaming) that did that every 5 minutes or so. Sent it back and it was repaired with a new MB (integrated graphics). I had it start showing up on my primary gaming machine, replaced a four year old graphics card and it stopped.
