Thread: Whitywindle New Players

Maybe you have noticed, maybe you have not, but ww is getting hundreds of new players every day. I was just riding trough starting areas and counted at least 50 lvl 6-15 players. I felt like it is time to help those new players, i gave them some of my gold, some of my knowledge , and ill continue to do that trough the following days if ill have time.

I beg all WW veteran players, please help those guys in any way!

- give them instructions
- craft some equipment, weapons, jewellery for them
- give some small amount of money
- do whatever you feel it can help to those new guys
- i beg all kins and thier leaders and officers to do recruitings, and take care of those people
- if possible, make some kind of festivities (music, races, landro cmn think :P)
- JUST DO SOMETHING!

I noticed that Legends of the Rohirrim is doing awesome job about it and i want to say thank you to those guys!

On that note i see a lot of people in moria aswell. Don't know if they are jsut alts that people are rolling or newcomers in some kins. But while questing in moria on my alt i've seen about 20 ppl from 50-60 running around which was nice to see aswell

Landro already lost a day of study and will have to push harder for recruiting all day today :P. Next event Landro TM will be in the first week after 11 july. Until then ill just help recruting and wobbling round starter area.

But im sure my kin will do some sort of event. Ill see to it

The increase in moria might be as a result of the update it was given mixed with that point of an expansion where people start working on alts a bit more.

Welcome to all new members on Withywindle, i hope you all enjoy your stay on this beautifull server(at least for me the majority of our players makes that for me).

don't forget to typ /joinchannel globallff and join in Landrovas his serverwide events (and others) as they are always a great well-organised party.

For any questions feel free to ask in globallff or send a tell to me when i am on.

If any new players to LOTRO are having any thoughts to whether they should stay with LOTRO or go onto any other MMO, then can I draw your attention to the majority of players who populate the servers of LOTRO. This is the kind of people who populate the worlds of LOTRO. I know that this was on the Brandywine server, but people like these are throughout all servers including ours. Khazad Union is also doing its best for the new players we have recruited around 15 people so far and at moment we are focusing on helping them learn the game, gear up and feel welcome in their new gaming home =D

Hope you saw the call for summer events from Turbine . You can bet well have something and i encourage other kins to think about events to, be them small or large races or cosmetic contest or anything. Check the news and announcements forum.

Yeah i put a WSoC & Cracked Rhi helvarch sigil apart for it already Landrovas, as long you host another great event.

There are the tag arenas in breeland I dont think I've ever seen used. Something a bit different that should be easy enough for new players to find or take part in.

I was just passing by during my usual moderation duties when I stumbled over this thread. This is awesome, everyone! Many, many props to those who are helping out the newbies! After all, we all know the saying: Newbies today, grouping partners in a month or two."

Seriously though, it's this type of stuff that makes our community so great! Heck, I might even just roll up an alt on Withywindle and come over to help out.

well thanks to the support team for making whitywindle the recommended server for a while, our kin has taken in atleast 80 new players in the last few days and we will keep taking them helping them in every way we can

Well i would like to help more, but im busy now with studying and other stuff. I did some crafting for newbies and i hope it will help.

Near the hedgemaze and the Horsefields.

The freezetag one is a favorite of mine, our kinnies still talk about our freeze tag event.

Randomly chosen "it" runs around and freezes players. Other players try to avoid, and can "thaw" a frozen player by getting close enough for a few seconds.

Tag ground is similar,without the freezing.

Great thing about these as kin events is it lets all levels and classes do something together, on an even playing field.

Give them a try!

I'm really happy with this. This community is awesome and I really hope it will be growing with RoR! WW needed new players !

I rolled an alt on Withy just a few days ago (it was on a new still F2P account...darn waiting on my bonus check). As I was riding out of archet to combe a very nice fellow stopped me and gave me a full set of armor appropriate for a level 7 Gaurdian.

Now I can't find where I wrote the nice fellows name down or I would be crowing his praises loudly to all.

I have a few lowbie things in my bank if one of you higher ups want to get ahold of me in world to pass them on to folks lower than me that can use them. (not going to pay to unlock the AH when I will be premium in a week or so). I tried to give them away but had no luck so far.

Well ive already sent my Scavanger Hunt event idea to Turbine for the Summer Fun event. May send some other ideas, maybe a shorter version of the race to the end of the world we had on the gala. But for now i need to study hard for some exams for a few days so im trying hard not to give in to temptaion and log in :P. But the tag and stuff seem easy enough, and im sure the nice Gladden folks wouldnt mind if we borrow their idea and have fun. Maybe ill even suggest it on main forums to have a tag on EVERY server. Going to do just that.

Has to do with the quality of the community.

This is great! I just rolled 6 new toons on Withy to try out a new server (I'm a D'delf native) and some new classes--and I could not believe how many new toons were running around the starter areas! I was even playing around with the idea of starting a kin dedicated to helping out newbies, but I guess you have that covered already . Way to go, Withywindle!

I've only ever played on Withywindle, so it's all I've ever known. I created a mini last Friday night on a whim at around midnight EDT and to my great astonishment, there were 10-15 characters in the starting area! Because the server's a former EU server, it's rare to see more than 20 people TOTAL on at midnight my time, let alone in the starting area alone! Seriously, I've never seen more than two others in any starting area at ANY time before! I just figured that everyone was getting their friends to play to try get that steed, but I didn't know about the recommended server thing. That's great; I wish this had been done a long time ago. Thanks, Turbine, for taking a course of action that may help populate Withywindle. I've always thought that they should merge Withy with a similarly dead - I mean, sparsely populated - U.S. server, but hopefully this influx of characters will serve a similar purpose. That gets me excited for the future of Withy.

I'll do what I can to help; my kin seems to be focused on super-casual raiding at the moment, but I'll talk with the leader and see if I can't muster up some support. See you around Middle-Earth!

Speaking of events... I'd advise people to keep an eye on global the coming days as there might be yet another vault run incoming.

For those unfamiliar with the vault runs here's a brief explanation. The person who first completes a certain task will recieve a free pick from my vault (choose bag and a slot number and recieve WHATEVER is in that spot). Last time I did this someone was VERY close to getting the clasp but the best someone got was 5*WSoC. The vault contains as of now 110 slots filled with everything from crafting mats and dyes to rep items and recipes... I might even throw in some gold just for good measure. Anyway, keep an eye on global

Good always nice to hear of good kins helping new players.

I just joined and a very nice person (sorry I forgot your name) made me free armor. The whole community is just wonderful! It's the best gaming community I've ever seen.
