Hi, I've just started to play LOTRO and I already have problems.
My data won't save (or they just can't be loaded). Every time I've opened the game, I've had to start it from the very begining, as if I'd never played before. I never got and error message or anything of the sort. Is there a solution or should I just re-install the game?
That is pretty strange, since the information about your character progress should not be stored locally on your computer.
When you say you have to start from the very beginning, do you mean you have to create your character again?
If not, where does it start you when you log in?
How far have you played before logging off?
Have you connected to the same server each time you log on?
Maybe we can figure something out with more detail. Thanks.
there is another possibility. I have had this happen.
If you do not go through the entire first intro area it will restart you each time. If you finish that initial area up through the instanced final chase your NPCs through a battle part and leave (with the cutscene) at the end you enter the "real" gaming world. After that it will save.

-No, I don't have to create the character again.
-It starts at the exact beginning (in my case the Refuge of Edhelion, right in front of Elrond)
-Not far, I didn't even get out of the Refuge.
-Yeah, I never changed the server.

Same: never changed the server.

It may be that, I didn't finish the intro area; I never played for more that 10 minutes, I think. I should try to play when I get more spare time...

I find it takes most of an hour to get thru those intro quests, maybe 1 1/2 if you're new, or sight-seeing or milking the small beasties for xp. Sit down, go thru the whole thing - at the end you will "travel" to a climactic battle instance - stick close to your NPC's and protect them, and get it over and done with, and you'll be good to go for shorter sessions.
(I never knew this was a problem, but I've never stopped in the middle of those first quests, either. That would be annoying, no doubt.)

Thank you guys ^^
Ok yep you need to finish that entire intro area which about 30-45 minutes if you are brand new and really reading everything. Once you get the cutscene and land in Celondim turn in your quest to the person in front of you and you should save normally from then on.
