It used to be 15 posts per page for me, now it's 40 posts per page. Was this a forum change? Or did I unknowingly change a setting somewhere? I glanced around and am unable to find anything related to this in settings.
After some more digging, I did find a display option for the # of posts per page. My preferences > My Forum Settings > General Settings (On the left).
Half way down, there is an option scroll with the following options for Number of Posts to Show Per Page:
- Use Forum Default
- 40 posts per page
- 50 posts per page
- 75 posts per page
- 100 posts per page
I have the Forum Default selected, but it is still displaying 40 posts per page. I tried changing my setting to something else. Saving it. Then changing it back to default and saving it again. It still displays 40 posts per page. I'm assuming this must be a bug? Guess I'll search around and try to find the appropriate spot to report community site bugs. Not sure if it will be fixed, given the amount of bugs currently on the community site that don't seem to be getting addressed =/
Yes it was a forum change the minimum and default is now 40 per page....
Settings can be changed by clicking My Forum settings in the My Preferances drop down
then click general settings about half way down you find the Forum View settings Number
of posts per page is one of the options you can change.

Thank you for your response! Could you post a link confirming this was an intended change? Given the options of Forum Default and 40 posts per page, it would seem to be a bug. Why have two separate options for the same amount?

well I saw no official change just see that 15 is no loger offered as it was before at the time it was also the default.
Forums generally default to the lowest number of pages and let the user decide if they want more.

Ah okay, I was unaware it was offered before. I never had to look at the posts per page option before today! Thanks again for the response!
I saw one of the threads I had posted in last night suddenly drop from 4 pages to 2 and wondered if it had gotten pruned, but everything seemed to still be there. And then there's the Cosmetics thread that suddenly went from ~195 pages to 75. Kinda wondered if I had tripped something but the option to set posts-per-page is situated such that you have to be pretty deliberate.
This probably works better, though, seeing as so many threads go to 5+ pages anyway, and the major ones easily blow through dozens, if not hundreds. Plus everything seems to be loading a bit smoother right now. Perhaps with fewer individual page calls from people browsing threads, the demand on the system is a little lighter?

This is driving me crazy, and I would love to see the minimum be set back to 15. Threads also feel like they're taking a lot longer to load now, though that could be on my end.
Seems like a silly change, if intended.

how do you create a new thread? This may seem newbie, but I havnt seen anyone post for people like me.please tell me
To create a new thread, you'll need first to pick which forum you want to post in, from the list across the top of the page. Let's say you mouse over "discussion forums", and from the drop-down you pick "generel discussion". That will open a new page and near the top on the lefthand side will be a "create new thread" button. Sapience has just recently made a sticky in the general discussion to urge folks to put their threads into the proper forum, so try to find the forum that suits your subject best.
To many people, free will is a license to rebel not against what is unjust or hard in life but against what is best for them and true.

This is likely some of the reasoning behind it.. but I've still been signed out of the forums about 8 times this morning.
