I'm tired of walking around in pants! It's time the men of Middle Earth show their true manhood and are provided kilts! The community in Lotro is full of people with Celtic origin or who indulge in the Celtic history and tradition. It's time we provide these players with what they deserve! We want in-game kilts and are willing to pick up our Claymores and fight for them. If you support adding in kilts to Lotro post on this forum. It's time we bring light to this subject and revolt against pants! Now, there may be some of you out there who believe it will take away from the realism of the game... Really? They already have top hats, your point is null and void, so post mates! Let them know what we think!
I've been wearing the kilt for 30 years (evidenced by the fact that I realize the proper way to refer to it is "the kilt", even in plural), but frankly see no reason for inclusion.
It's a modern invention, and would be out of place in a medieval setting such as Middle Earth. Too bad they already got the bagpipes wrong (third (bass) drone only got added in the last couple of centuries).
The so-called "little" kilt, and especially the notion of clan tartans all came about in the 19th Century or so. Nothing medieval about it. And even back in the day, when tartan cloth and the 'big kilt' was worn, it was generally by poor people who couldn't afford trousers; they just bundled up wool cloth and wore it as plaid and kilt in one piece, it being a blanket, jacket, cowl, all in one. Probably covered a lot more than the 'little kilt', and to be honest, there are similar garments in the game already.
The modern kilt would just be anachronistic and silly.

I bet people didn't wander around in the middle ages with top hats, giant flowers or glowing weapons either; yet, we have them.
I don't see how adding kilt to the mix would break immersion.

I fully agree with this. It's much more jarring to see a hobbit wandering around with a flower that's three times the little fellow's size than it would be to see some guy wearing a kilt, in my opinion.
And as a woman of proud Irish descent, I have to say that I like kilts.

I hope you don't mean that in the way that immediately occurred to me. I went to a party in Glasgow once, and one of the guys was wearing his best party clothes, which included a kilt. Perfectly fine. BUT ...
A man who wants to wear a mini-skirt needs to learn how to sit like a lady. This fellow hadn't. He wasn't even drunk ... I don't think ... but he was seated in such as way as to show his true manhood, all right. I was not impressed.
At the very least, Turbine would get its T-for-Teen rating pulled.
And when I consider that the basic underwear that every male character comes equipped with (you can see it briefly on the character screen sometimes, before the system loads the clothes the character is wearing) includes knee-length pants, I don't think the effect would be what you wanted.
Trimaris (Florida). Well, technically it was a principality back when I was active. It became a full kingdom shortly before I had to cease participating due to mundane life inexorably intruding. I had a hand in crafting the original crowns for the kingdom. Good times.
I know, I said I quit, so why am I posting? 'Cause there ain't no Blogorette patch.
For the love of everything holy, please do not show your true manhood.
Curses and Ninnyhammers! You beat me to the punch!
Life is not a journey to the grave with the intention of arriving safely in a well preserved body, but rather to skid in broadside, totally worn out & proclaiming "WOW, what a ride!"
Civ II rules after all these years......
Honestly think this is something that should already be in the game from RoI, going through enedwaith and dunland you only kill about 600-1200 Dunlending men and women of most if i remember correctly are wearing kilts right?
Should have one implemented as a reward in the book quests a few ways earlier than the grey companies set of clothing

Oh come on! What could be more frightening than a berserk Dwarf charging into battle in the kilt screaming bloodthirsty war cries and waving his weapon around?
