Re: Totally Tubular Tuesday with T-Shirts and Coffee!

    Thanks for opening up H!

Well the Doctor said that the ligaments in my knee all appear to be intact. She thinks there is probably a partial tear of a meniscus. The treatment is resting as much as possible for a week and continuing with the ice.

I tried to get more information on whether I can get the Army to foot the $80k bill for vet school, but the best I could do was leave a message which will supposedly be answered in 48 hours. My major concern is age, the website for the Veterinary Corps says that the cutoff is 42, however a recruiter yesterday told me that it is now 35. I am 30 now and I have at least 6 years of school left. Of course the recruiter was also trying to convince me to enlist as a vet tech in thee reserve so that I could still go to school

It is an overcast probably rainy day here. Emma is going stir crazy already and my wood flooring is not appreciating it.

    Have a good one everybody!

BD! Good to to read from you.

We need to do another play date for the kids. I can show you some good exercises for the the knee injury we have in common too. Biggest thing is keeping your hamstrings stretched and not bending your legs more than ninety degrees unless you have to. Kneeling should be avoided.

Army Vet School? Really? I would've thought all that was contracted out now. And I thought the Air Force had all the dog stuff... Sounds cool.

Re: Totally Tubular Tuesday with T-Shirts and Coffee!

    Morning!

Thanks Hluill for opening the Coffeehouse. Got me a sweet cup of Pecan Torte this a.m. compliments from Gevalia. And speaking of tubular I'm listening to this particular score this a.m. from the movie Inception, but by goodness wait for that guy to kick in with the electric guitar---http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WQvM4...eature=related, it's awesome...or at least I think so.

Hey, BD! Stay home, grab the remote and rest that knee! That's an order! LOL. I can totally relate on the wood flooring....got some here too. Hope you can get to Vet School, cuz I have lots of questions!

In other news....Maxx did very well on his very first elevator ride at the hospital. Although on his trip up to the ninth floor he did splay out his feet in the elevator as if to get a better grip. LOL.

Everyone on the ninth floor thought he was the best thing since sliced bread. And when his Daddy saw him, they were both like little boys on Christmas morn. It was great. Hubby was totally not expecting the visit of his boy! So it went well, Maxx cried, Daddy cried and all was well.

Unfortunately when I returned home from the visit out to the hospital our rescued 15 year old Greyhound caused me to fall on my back yesterday upon returning home. It was simply a matter of his now poor eye sight and a garden hose.

So long story short he tripped me up and I landed on my back in gravel and stone. Plus a sore and twisted wrist. But what can you do? Kids of the four legged kind can cause things they don't mean to. Anywho, I hope everyone has a great day today.

Re: Totally Tubular Tuesday with T-Shirts and Coffee!

    Morning, Landrovalrim,

H-man! good to hear from you. I miss you and S girl on the forums very much. Hell, Wil and Kristin, I miss you both.

Bdr, I echo the comments about bedrest and ice. It might be a few days before they can confirm a torn meniscus. The swelling has to go down.
Good luck with vet school, I hope you get in. Now if I could figure out what a 62 year old ex pharmacist could do for 4-5 years until retirement....... Seriously, i am running free but running scared too.

Val, I am so glad that Maxx ( and i love the name, I cried when they canceled the maxx headroom show) made it ok to the hospital and gave your Hubby a surprise. The animal planet channel has so many stories of how pets brought to hospitals or nursing homes give everyone an amazing lift! Even more so, I hope he gets out soon. And as far as the greyhound, well, maybe he could play linebacker for the bears! My buddy had a boxer named brutus, and when he was young, that dog was like a human torpedo. when I would come over, he would take about a 30 foot run at me and hit me in the stomach with his head, knocking me into the middle of next week! then he would proceed to lick my face as if nothing happened! Gosh I miss him. He and I grew quite close, and he was like my 130 pound lap dog.

Well, today is a day of decision. I finally got my final check from the former company, paying me for my two weeks of outstanding vacation. And at 1:30, I have a hearing with the state on my unemployment compensation. The former company, which has a reputation of fighting everything, is alleging gross misconduct , so I consulted an attorney and got some tips. Please wish me luck. Have a good day, all.

Re: Totally Tubular Tuesday with T-Shirts and Coffee!

Wow, it's tough to post on these forums. I keep getting logged out and have to log in twice just to reply.

Doc! Good to read from you too. I have missed being here. I wish my connection didn't make it such a pain in the butt to post. Good luck with another adventure. I hope you keep that positive attitude. It's sure to generate some awesome stories.

Val! I agree with Doc. Great posting about the hos[ital visit. I am training my boy to be able to do the same. I want him to go everywhere with me. Now that I think about it, he has yet to ride in elevator... ~adds another event to the list~ My biggest challenge is keeping him from being distracted, but he is only two.

Apologies if I make no further replies, I am will be lurking.

I just watched 'Singing in the Rain' again last night. What a wonderful film and music. My only gripe, That whole Broadway Melody section needs to be cut! It totally messes up the flow of the film for me. Seems forced in there overly so.

Not saying I do not like it,..I Love it! Just the Cyd Charisse part alone,..ga ga ga goo!

If anyone is feeling down and out.,.watch it! Watch all these MGM musicals!

I have multi-quotes, and lots of them, thanks to the miracle of using cut and paste with Notepad. (Really, Turbine?)

Anyway, I went back to Friday, mostly because there was still stuff there to which I wanted to reply.

An old gaming friend of mine was a vet in Virginia, actually. A few years ago, he decided to emigrate and is now working towards citizenship in New Zealand. (Yes, he was inspired by the LotRO films in part!)

Okay, it's time for people to stop getting hurt now.

I can understand how that easily could have happened, though. My best friend and her husband have two rescue greyhounds and they are all over the place.

I have the Landroval page bookmarked, and yet roughly a third of the time it takes me to the main forums page instead, which I really don't understand. It seems to happen whether or not I am (or have been) logged in, but I'll have to pay attention in the future to see if there is any correlation.

Oh, and congrats on the successful transition, Garaf!

    *****

Anyway, I have been lurking but things are getting chaotic now and I am trying not to panic. It's really not as bad as I can be prone to think it is, especially since I still have a decent amount of time. It's just that between having to deal with it all by myself and having certain feelings of grief stirred up again by my imminent departure, it's not only a lot of work but rather emotional to boot. The payoff will be splendid, though.

I'll try and post as I can, but I may not be around much for a couple of weeks. You can safely assume that I will be lurking, though.

    Take care, folks!

    Afternoon, Landroval.

Re: Totally Tubular Tuesday with T-Shirts and Coffee!

    Afternoon Landrovalrim,

/special hug to Gweanne because I think she needs one

/regular hug to delaney....oh, ok gombur, special Moving Hug to Delaney.

Just had my interview with the state unemployment office. I fail to understand.....the company that must not be named is not contesting my unemployment at all, so why the heck do they have to scare the heck out of me (wow, 2 hecks in one sentence!) by doing this? And its still not been granted yet, they have to "make their decision!" How can they not grant it? I was terminated, and I did not do anything malicious or anything that would disqualify me from unemployment? /upset

Good news is that the refinance on my mortgage looks good. It wont save me a great deal of money, but it will effectively take 2 years off the loan. I had a 30 year with 22 left and this will be a 20. So maybe things are starting to improve.

    Have a good day all

Hey, Doc. You know that old saying--power corrupts, absolute power corrupts absolutely.

I think industries and like neurosurgeons enjoy trying to make us quiver and shake in our boots. And like Delaney said God complex. It all makes me tired, sick and pi$$ed. LOL.

But anywho, I did take today off from the hospital. Tomorrow Maxx and I will head to see Daddy again for the few hours that we can. Friday I found out I am going into training for some home rehabilitation myself so that I will be able to assist the hubby when he gets home. I can go to the hospital early Friday, learn some good stuff and be ready for---drum roll please! Hubby gets to come home this Saturday! YAY!

After four weeks this man will get to come home. What great news. Of course our battles will not be over but at least he can come home and sit in his man chair and look out over the lake. What a joy that will be for him.

BD, not sure on the laptop. I'd try shutting the whole thing down so it can dry out for a couple of hours...that may not work but it's worth a try.

    Afternoon, Landroval.
that was one epic multi-post. Reminiscent of the good Pastor!
I thought about multi-post replying to that, but that made my brain hurt...

anyway, keep on focusing on that payoff! Splendiferous! And if that doesn't work, go watch Mr. Magorium's Wonder Emporium! or the Princess Bride.

If anyone is feeling down and out.,.watch it! Watch all these MGM musicals!

    ok back to work,..

Looks like the coffeecrew needs a run on them MGM musicals...

and yes, I'll be wearing the hoodie too. Slamboy might wear the t-shirt but I suspect it will drape on him like a dress so that's probably not gonna work. But it will be Slamboy and I attending.

well, although it was a day with some ups and downs (including a particularly difficult client), it has ended on a positive note.

May have made arrangements for the donation of 5,000 sunglasses to be distributed to kids in inner city camps in Vancouver, Camden, Trenton, Miami, Toronto, Honduras and Malawi. Rx glasses could follow if we can properly partner with some opticians/optometrists. Woohoo!
