I'm talking about the main book quests that force you to act like complete idiots time and time again so you can't get in the way of letting Turbine telling its story.
*Vicious enemies that turn green and casually stroll off because they're bored of fighting you and you just let them.(too many times to count)
*Being forced to escort idiotic NPCs who attempt to do the stupidest things possible(Lorniel, and probably a lot more)
*Being forced to flee from an idiotic plan while the enemies mock you?!?(2.5.4?, where Bosi gets captured)
*Being forced to do quests that are just playing into the enemy's hand by fiat(Mordrambor and Amarthiel)
*Being insulted by a prominent NPC for not killing a dangerous enemy when you had the chance, despite being forced to do so(Celeborn)
*Being forced to run away from taking revenge on an obnoxious NPC who wronged you despite having no reason to be afraid(Lheu Brenin) -my second most hated plotline
*Spending an entire questline escorting an obnoxious enemy for an ill-advised prisoner exchange that not only costs the lives of many allies, but ends with proposing said prisoner swap at the enemy's gate! Even the good guys would simply laugh at the forces of evil and take back their friends if the situation was reversed. Not only that, but then when you *finally* get a chance to get your revenge, an NPC walks in at the last second and finishes villain off for you. -my most hated plotline
See the drift? Can we please cut out all of this quests which are designed to make us look like fools? I'm not talking about being deceived by cunning adversaries, or foiled due to bad luck or having our characters be genre-savvy, I'm talking about just treating our characters like they weren't festering idiots who try the worst solution to every problem?

No reason to be afraid!? Assuming you're talking about the climax, he had a whole bunch of archers that would've feathered you before you could even lay a single blow on him. Fact of the matter is there was no way you would've beaten him at the time, simple as that.
I can pretty much agree with everything else, but I've always loved the Epic line regardless of the derp moments.

Sorry, got to disagree. We have some of the finest warriors on our side, and have faced worst odds before. He was also much closer to us than we were to his warriors, enough to at least give him pause before speaking so rashly. We could also have simply burned his village down on our way out, since we cleared pretty much everyone up top anyways.
Re: Please, no more chump quests with this expansion?
Umm... Lheu Brenin had about 30 NPC's VISIBLE, and he talked about having a lot more there ready to kill you. His folk knew the caverns like their pockets while you did not, so they were in serious advantage as well. And you had only THREE NPC's with you at that time, no matter if it was Elrond's sons and Halbarad, there was no chance at all. You could have killed Lheu Brenin maybe sure but been killed only seconds after that (if you could have reached him before arrows pierced your chest).
Basically I am disagreeing with most of your examples as well. There's ALWAYS story reasons why we are doing something "stupid". In Moria, we were totally surrounded by zounds of orcs and powerful sorcerer, so be glad he let you go.
Besides, our characters are not valar, they don't know everything. We, as players know a lot more, but our characters, let alone NPC's do not. Actually the Epic storyline would be very dull and boring if it was full of heroic accomplishmends by semi-god characters who know everything and nothing can ever go wrong.
So devs, keep up the good work with Epics, they have been The Best Part of this game ever since this game was launched!
[EDIT] Forgot to add: We are member of the Free Peoples, the good guys here you know. We don't burn down (human) villages, that job is for Sauron's minions.

Can the Middle-earth chapter of PETA please lobby to get boars and wolves placed on the endangered species list? There can't be much left after 5 years of poaching them for hooves, fur, tusks, and tails. Please protect the future of these majestic animals!
Re: Please, no more chump quests with this expansion?
I didn't mind the running away abandoning your friends to their fate the first time. It was the second, third, fourth, fifth, sixth, and seventh times that it irritated me. My character must really have a reputation for abandoning people when they need him the most.
Also, can we not have a quest where someone dies after carrying me a few feet? It made me feel fat. I know I'm a hobbit, but come on.
