My Character Gets Stuck In One Place Every 15 Minutes Or So

My characters will be fighting, or walking, or running, or riding, and they instantly stop in one place, and are stuck. The only thing I can do is rotate them in one spot. The rest of the game seems to be working except my character cannot move and cannot use any skills. Landscape creatures and things keep moving like normal. Most times this only happens for about 2-3 seconds, but sometimes it lasts much longer, and on rare occasions it lasts so long that I quit lotro, and restart the game. When I restart the game everything is working normal.

This happens every time I play, the 2-3 seconds of being stuck. It happened before the most recent patch, and it is still happening. So it was not fixed by the patch. I was stuck again several times in the last couple hours of playing today.

I contacted my ISP and we ran exhaustive checks on my connection and PC, and we tested my ping constantly for a long time pinging random sites. I never had a single time-out, or lost any packets. The ISP tech said it's most likely the game server losing packets with my connection to the server.

I also want to note that i never had this issue at all while playing SWTOR for two months. If it was my system or my ISP it would have been happening there as well. Everything points to this being an issue on the lotro client/server/connection side.

Is anyone else getting this same problem?

Note: I am not sure whether this problem is the same problem as the lag/hitching issue. Which is why I wante this as it's own separate thread. I don't want this particular issue to get buried within a thread about something different.

    PS: I am on Brandwine.
If you need my PC specs or any other info, I can post them at your request.

This is part of the lag/hitching issue and it would be best to keep it all in one thread.

OK if it is associated with lag/hitching, then pls merge this with that thread, but pls will people respond and say whether they get this exact thing too.

I really want this particular thing to be addressed somehow.

Well, that's actually why I responded. I get the exact same thing which, at it's worse, does make the game literally unplayable. A few nights ago. I had consecutive freezes of more than 3 minutes each and finally just shut the game down. Very frustrating. But this has been brought up in the official threads on numerous occasions by other players, myself included.

Back when Lotro first started there was a big problem. Players would get stuck at certain points on the landscape (usually the lines where you transferred from zone areas). Eve online also had a similiar problem.

You could rotate the character but not move it. Relogging wouldnt cure the problem either. A server restart was the only way to get your character back under your control.

The cause was (for me) the traffic shaping applied by the ISP during peak useage time. When i switched to an ISP who did not do that the problem went away completely.

I wonder if something in the Lotro code is interacting with ISP's who apply traffic shaping again?

It's lag between your PC and the LoTRO servers. Somewhere along the way packets are being dropped.
