Re: expensive expansion since tax not included + europe is more expensive

Ok got an awnser today for the ticket i posted here earlier:

Thank you for your inquiry. The prices for the expansion are as listed on the website. Please note that the Euro rates are higher as we are required to collect VAT.

If you have any additional questions or concerns, please respond to this email and we will be happy to assist you. Please do not update the default subject line in your reply.

    Thank You,
    Turbine Customer Support
Are we sooooo smart or is Turbine that stupid?

    so awnsered back:

    dear support,

Thanks for the reply, but omg what a standard email...if you actualy would read the ticket you'll notice it's about the VAT. Here you say yourself the VAT is included into the price as required confirm EU regulation, so the question then is why we get another extra 15% added to the price total once we actualy try to pay?
Please read the topic carefully to which i adressed you there. As we discovered we pay VAT twice when paying in euro's.... That would make up for the 15% price diffrence aswell as tax is being charged in the US aswell.

    Kind regards,
wonder what the outcome will be.

I can actually answer that question, Gweoonikke and everyone else.

We've very recently caught an issue where the system was charging VAT twice by mistake. This is completely not intentional and we have already corrected that particular error.

Those that were accidentally double-charged the VAT will be receiving an automatic refund for the amount of the overcharge. We apologize for this issue!

Doesn´t work for me. I still have to pay double tax, if i wanna pay in USD.

    Euro (german language setting used):
    First screen shows: 64,99
    Last screen: 64,99
    total 64,99

    Euro (american language setting used):
    First screen shows: 56,50
    Last screen: 56,50
    + tax 8,48
    total 64,98

    USD:
    First screen shows: 69,99
    Last screen: 69,99
    + tax 10,50
    total 80,49

This cannot be correct. Friends in my kin preordered in USD, too, and they didn´t have to pay extra tax. I will not preorder until this problem is solved.

Just a quick question, Celestrata - do you use a company based in Luxembourg to carry out digital sales in the EU? This would explain the 15% VAT rate, because EU VAT legislation allows VAT to be levied in the country of the supplier, instead of the destination country. This is usually done for online orders, which are almost always prepurchased.

As far as Luxembourg is concerned, it has a more liberal tax legislation, allowing a lot of deductions, and it has a 15% VAT RATE, so many retailers are operate from there. It turns out that even Amazon UK actually sells through its Luxembourg branch, so I figure Turbine may have simply followed their example.

No, that's actually correct. Initially there was a glitch were tax wasn't added at all to the USD price, your friends got lucky.

    Ingaras is right.

Convert the dollar to euro, when u pay in euro's no extra tax added, if u pay in USD you get tax after ordering, but....If you convert the dollar price (45,99 for base) to euro's you get about the same amount. Before there was a difference like near 15% which is solved now.

Correct. Initially the tax was not being appropriately applied to the USD. At this point, you will be subject to the VAT no matter what currency you order in.

Currently, if you order with a European locale set on the site, the price displayed will already include VAT. However, if you order from the American locale on the site, the VAT will be applied at the end of the transaction -- the same way we apply tax in America.

    Nightschadow,

What you are seeing here is the tax actually being included appropriately.

The first price (European Locale in Euros) is the price with the VAT included -- the standard pricing scheme for Europe.

The second price (American Locale in Euros) is displaying the price of the purchase without tax included. Tax is being applied at the end of the order, just like we do in America.

The third price (American Locale in USD) is displaying the appropriate price in USD after tax is applied. $80.49 USD is roughly 65 Euros, making it the same as the prior two prices.

You mean you guys actually bothered to argue about this? Even with tax its like £48? Legendary Edition, quite a nice bargain. Disposable income anyone? I mean my wage is only small but even I can afford to spend £50 on a game I love.
