This statement truly says it all
Although I havent played in about a year I believe I can identify and agree with many of the complaints/suggestions/ideas posted in this forum, and I sure am not in favor of this type of improvement to DF.Hundreds of pages of complaints, suggestions and ideas and nowhere was DF ever mentioned (apart from bring it back to the Moors), and here they are trying to improve something that no-one has complained about, and said improvement will result in a worse Skill.
Really, truly, seriously ??????

Jun 28 2012 01:03 AM #84There are two novels that can change a bookish fourteen-year old's life: The Lord of the Rings and Atlas Shrugged. One is a childish fantasy that often engenders a lifelong obsession with its unbelievable heroes, leading to an emotionally stunted, socially crippled adulthood, unable to deal with the real world. The other, of course, involves orcs.

Yes, that's why I don't even bother. I know I have zero self-control when it comes to this. I'm a lot better at not replying to everything that gets under my skin (it's a lot like ignoring my 2 1/2 year old daughter when she's screaming), but I can't help myself when it comes to at least reading it.

If you notice, I started the sentence you quoted with "If everybody else is dead". Unless you think a hunter and a Mini/RK/LM/Captain (the "useful" classes for rezes) can finish the fight alone (in which case, I agree with you), retreating with your "rez class" and getting it back to the ALREADY LOST fight can (and will) help (and save everyone dread removal because everyone will be rezed).
With this in mind, I actually think it would be much more valuable to set a "DF target" to go with you than the entire fellowship. Either a fixed target or a the targeted player when you DF.
That way, you can actually take the healer (or someone else) away from danger (if in near death) and get him back maybe in time to save the fight (in some cases at least - when the fight does not reset).
Note: Once again, I point out that I DON'T support any development time devoted to this unless all the other much more pressing issues are solved.Last edited by Lucanthanas; Jun 28 2012 at 10:04 AM.

Many player won't like to be travelled without their agreement ... And if they have to agree, popping a confirmation window in a raid end-boss fight may lead to more hunter hate (and more wipes).
And this time i will have to agree with haters.

I only quoted the relevant part, but here goes:
No DF VS DF:
a) No DF:
healer retreats, runs back, rezzes, removes dread. Off we go to try again.
b) with DF:
Everyone alive has to run back, if no healer alive, he has to retreat and run back (etc, same as before), healers rez, try again.
You gain, a bit of gold from repairs (yay!), perhaps 10 secs for dreadwipe.
You lose: more people running back.
This is without considering the impact on the battle. Fellowship DF in raiding = useless. Let me know if I missed something.
JUST QUESTING:
Here I find the only use for the fellowship DF, but I'm pretty sure it's not the use they have in mind. I used my DF as a travel skills while questing.
When your milestone is on CD and you know the rez circle is near => DF, you can now take your questing companion
That is the only real use of fellowship DF I can think of.
In general, I think it is not a very good idea, but it won't be a problem for me either. It is definitely not one of the "improvements" to the class I was hoping for.

DF breaks instances anyways, if you use DF while the rest of the group dies, the minstrel has to run back to res everyone, but once the minstrel enters the room the boss will be active instantly and kill the minstrel again. Every time. So yeah not good.

Evacs are pretty standard in MMO's. It's been kind of funny that there wasn't a group-wide evac anywhere in the game to date. I'll admit that I don't see the use for it in LOTRO but that's mainly because there's no real challenge or threat in the game at this point. When you were losing hours of leveling with every death, or even days, then it makes sense but that's not LOTRO, that's a game with real death penalties.

Yes this is true. At least the boss bugs and resets. In some cases it can bug the whole instance to a point where you have to reset it. That is why you should rather stay and die, because having to regroup completely and losing progress with add groups is NOT convenient.

I think it's actually quite fun.
Still, that is NOT an excuse for not fixing our long lasting trivial bugs (give me the !@# source code if you can't), at the very minimum.

You don't HAVE to use the skill.
And if you've got a problem with someone in your group being a Hunter and having access to the skill, then ask them to take it out for the instance(s).
Simple as that. I've always said there's no shame in fleeing, it's an art that's undermined and denied sorely until those fatal moments where it all boils down to if you can survive or not.

Uh... yes?
Neither we have to use Blue Campfire, Green Campfire, Red Campfire, Facepalm Shot, Hunter's Fail or any other worthless skills we got/might be getting. I guess it was not clear enough that getting them in the first place is the issue. Not that there is some evil spirit over my shoulder, clicking those skills when I am not looking.
By the way, beware, it's 2012, Mayans predicted some weird things... like speaking devs.
/bitterDue to negative feedback of our fans we are NOT reworking Desperate Flight anymore. Oh, and it was supposed to be changed into *insert awesome buff for fellowship* (*insert trollface*), but rare typing disorder forces us, as usual, to state such stuff only after a fact. Besides, we were busy inventing whole new set of legacies for Horse LI. To match originality of the entire idea - +200 Parry rating, +1m to Facepalm Shot radius, +60s to Green Campfire duration.Last edited by Ferthcott; Jul 13 2012 at 12:53 AM.

Of course I do not have to use it. I would not even buy it. BEcause it would partly rob the skill off it's only effectiveness. Or even destroying instances when used.
The point is: We get three new skills I guess. And one would already be useless. The last time we were left with great things like Hunter's Art and Split Shot, which nobody uses that added the numbers up. Furthermore I do not want these skills improved either. Right now it is hard enough or impossible to include every worthwhile skill into a rotation. Rather merge them into Blood Arrow and Barbed Arrow.
What I want to see with RoR is that the Devs actually sat down and thought of things instead of adding stupid stuff that nobody needs or wants.
There are so many things to work on, no need to add more and sell it as an update.Vincent van Port "Held der fliegenden Feder" R13 before 2013!

Uhmm... If this is going to be one of our (hunters) new skills, then this sounds like a cheap way of giving us something new... kind of like giving us a new travel skill... ill sign this petition.. just to keep this skill from becoming one of my new level 85 skills...

I haven't been in this place for quite a while... Feels nice to be back.
And I come back to another one of these? Seems like we never get a break.
One of the reasons I left was because of the sad state we as a class were in (as soon as I read about the QS being an insta-cast with a lag time of a second or something, that started it). And this situation isn't helping.
I'm here to formally give my support to this petition. Why? Because MAYBE Turbine will listen to us (I remember that one of the topics before I left was by ZC saying something about time and having to listen to us or something. All in all, it made him look reaaaaaaally bad.)
Aaaaaaaaand that's about it. Good day to you all.

I haven't had time to play much or keep up to date lately unfortunately, but I'm going to start playing more when Rohan comes out. I honestly thought the developers were trolling us when I heard about this skill, it serves absolutely no purpose other than to allow hunters to ruin their entire fellowship's game play by using it mid-raid. Even if you do use it to mitigate a wipe-in-progress, that's only really saving a few people a small repair bill (still have to re-use scrolls/tokens because if it's bad enough for you to actually use fellowship DF, then there will be at least a few people who are dead). I was hoping that after the whole hunters art/split shot debacle I'd actually get some useful skills to add to my bar in Rohan. I don't know what other skills we're getting but this one certainly won't be keyed at all lol.

I have to say coming back after 5 years I was excited to play my hunter, but after leveling him from 50-54 and reading all these sorts of threads on the forums I am thinking it might not be so great. If changing DF to fellow-wide is the devs idea of an improvement, I'm concerned.
As others have mentioned, I'd MUCH prefer a skill that increases our survivability rather than a flea ability like DF being "improved". I like to think I'm very well geared for my level, since I hit level cap during SoA and earned mostly raid gear back in the day. Even with the gear I have (focused on vitality since I used to PvP a lot) I find myself being beaten down to near death in seconds by light blue NPCs. DPS isn't anything to write home about either when compared to other classes.
You can add my name to the petition, I'd much prefer some real improvements.Erendil 50 Hunter Rank 7, Mavellen 45 Warden; Officers of Disciples
Ragaroth Warleader Rank 7, Marhawk Stalker Rank 5; Members of Cuddle Squad
Other Characters: Arthilius - Captain, Arthilias - Guardian,
Claireth - Runekeeper, Harbuckle - Burglar, Lothlirien - Hunter

As I have said in other threads on the subject, this is completely absurd to even think about.
Desperate Flight is intended as an INSTANT flee skill which allow you to escape combat just the very last moment before an enemy hits you with a killing blow.
Desperate Flight for a fellowship would have to include a POPUP to ask each member:
WOULD YOU LIKE TO TRAVEL WITH DESPERATE FLIGHT?
YES/NO
.....
...
...
Yes!
......
..
...
.
......please hold while all the other members of your fellowship decided which button to press....
....
....
....holding...
...
....3/6 have clicked...
....
..
.
.....
...
5/6 have accepted the DESPERATE FLIGHT, please wait another 3 seconds for instant teleport by invisible wings for everyone-express...
...
...
....
..6/6 congrats, you are now all dead because you waited too long!...
So, it would be completely misused by people who purposely press FELLOWSHIP FLIGHT while in a fellowship with people just to troll and cause harm.
With a popup it kinda defeats the purpose of an INSTANT skill, since it takes about 2-4 seconds to reach, click an leave.
Without a popup it will be trolling gone wild and people will be DF:ed all across middle-earth, against their will.
Think...think....think!The road to success is always under construction.

You can sign me up. Not because I agree with all of your arguments, only that I do not see a good use for this skill. I just don't see a circumstance under which it would be particularly useful.
I'm also going to start a petition on the Woodworker Tradeskill thread begging for an upgraded Fishing Rod recipe! Seriously, we haven't figured out to make a rod out of something better than Lebethron???

Under what circumstances could that possibly be useful? I have never heard of a more useless skill. Is PvE going to be so brutal that suddenly a whole fellow might wipe? If a hunter used that in an instance his party would boot him.
Since it is so ridiculous I am going to assume they meant it as a joke and and we are going to be pleasantly surprised when DF is replaced with something not lame.
I started this game with a hunter and I only really use the skill for traveling back to the rez circle.

/Signed but only for it to change to a survival. OR my thought to remedy it being group-wide, add a notification box which asks each party-member if they want to use the DF transport. Why not have it be that for everyone including the hunter that pressed it? And then make it so the ones that want to go out can, while the others can stay if they want.

espreate flight
I am in favor of making it fellowship wide. I mostly in fellowships with others in my kindship and almost never in pick up fellowships. When we do an instance or any other group activity, we know what each of us are expected to do in most situations. We even state it to others that may not be in my Kindship, so there is not miscommunications.

Would the other people in your fellows be happy if you brought them all back to the beginning of an instance by accident?
Would your friends be happy at you if you panicked and clicked it when you were close to winning?
Would any Hunter be happy if they were now known as 'The King of Retreat!'?
No. No they would not.
This would be the ultimate TROLOLOLO skill.
