I tried going to my.tubine.com/rewards to refer friends but got a redirect loop error. When I logged out of my account and went there, I could access the page, but when prompted to login, I got the same error again. I guess this is connected to the same error that most have with the community site already (not being able to access preferences etc.).

Does anyone have an idea for a workaround?
Same here. I get this on Chrome:
Error 310 (net::ERR_TOO_MANY_REDIRECTS): There were too many redirects.
I tried clearing cookies, but it does the same thing again.
It also throws up similar errors on IE9, Firefox and Safari.

same here, on another note though im pretty sure the referral program and therefore the steed are not available to EU players. ofc i could be wrong but i think its only for the US
Yep, same problem us ex-Codies players have had since the migration when trying to access anything to do with our accounts or chars.
I remember getting the same thing the last time they tried to get us to invite our friends.
That was when the game went F2P, so I wouldn't hold your breath.
Pretty poor really, I've said it before, the web development team need a serious talking to.
The one that really bugs me is hitting any link to a thread, and getting directed to the forum home with sp_login=1
Can fix it if you like, just give me access to your source control. You do use source control right (we've been here before too)?
I get the same error as old player that got transfered from codemasters. I used Firefox, IE and Chrome, all 3 same error. I could enter 5 e-mails, but the proceeding page got blocked.
I got this fixed by trying to leave my kinship (one that migrated from Codemasters) with all characters and waiting for 30 minutes or so. Then I got access to the referral page (and the preferences etc.).
I read somewhere that the bug is connected to the old migrated kinships and it looks to be right, since it all works for me now when I'm not in a kiniship.

Thought it was just me. Ever since migrating I can't access MyLotro for any of my characters that were around before the transfer, if I try and look at them it just gives me an error message, been like that for months..
Any character made afterwards, is accessible. Is there ANY way to get past this referral loop? I've messed around with cookies, changed browsers (Firefox, Safari, Chrome) No such luck.
The kinship stuff sounds interesting, do you mind explaining how you did it? And with which characters?

I logged on lotro, left my kinship with all my characters (my kinship was migrated from Codemasters), logged out and in again in game and forums, waited 30 minutes, and got access.

Only, I'm not willing to do this. Turbine need to sort this issue out, people shouldn't have to leave kins just to get this working.

There is no fecking way I'm leaving a kinship that I've been for almost 5 years just to work around a bug that's been plaguing these forums since migration a year ago. It shows how much respect Turbine have for their community when a) their workaround to all the forum/account problems is the leave the core community device, your kinship and b) have done nothing to improve kinship functionality since the housing introduction many years ago.
Only, I'm not willing to do this. Turbine need to sort this issue out, people shouldn't have to leave kins just to get this working.
This issue has now existed for a year with apparently no work at all to fix it, which leaves all us ex-Codies players either having to leave our kin (that isn't happening) or we can't use this offer. More quality PR from Turbine........
It'd be nice for some comment from Turbine over this, but even if they do comment, it's likely to be 'tough luck'
Hm, strange! My captain and warden have left their kinships since the migration but still don't show up at the character screen. Does the problem persist if you rejoin the migrated kinship?
If it's the only workaround I'll do it, reluctantly ofcourse. I value my 'join dates' for melancholy purposes but eventually not being able to see or track my characters will take over. Might as well let this offer push me over the line.
I guess there's no point in /bugging it since the issue has been around since the transfer. Sigh...
If I understand the previous threads on this topic, then leaving kinship has worked for some people, but not for all. So I guess there are no guarantees, but it's the only workaround I've heard about and it worked for me.
I only play on one server (Laurelin), so left all my chars in the kinship that migrated from Codemasters on that server (9 chars).
I have rejoined the kinship now but not sure if I will keep having access to the buggy parts on my.lotro.com.
Ok, so I've left my kin on all characters.. Logged in and out, on forums and game.. I can now access my characters on Mylotro.com but still not the rewards section, will this come later after 30m?

if you rejoin the old kinship you will lose access once more... the "cure" ... disband the kinship and reform it... yes, wonderful solution to a problem which cannot be that hard to fix... it's only a database, there has to be a way to make the old and new data compatible... they just seem unwilling to invest the required time... otherwise I'm sure they would have replied to the thread in the community site feedback thread
They just ignore it, eventually all the old timers will get fed up with the direction the game is taking and leave, that'll solve the problem... or maybe they will let us buy a fix in the store
Like I said, I'm the kin founder, and there just ain't no way I'm leaving the kin.
Oh well, it's only a mount in a game I hardly play any longer.
Not the end of the world.

Is it really that hard to leave the kin and then get the steed.. then join again? Unless you treasure your Join Date :P
You haven't thought this through have you...
I seem to remember a 'feature' a while back, if a leader left a kin and there was no successor the kin would disband without warning. I'm not willing to test that it's been fixed, and I'd assume that any other kin leads are also hesitant to try...
I am seriously curious as to how their databases are set up, when original CodeMaster accounts are treated differently when it comes to using an url-link.

Nevertheless frustrating and annoying...

Yes? Because I am not the leader, I can leave and then rejoin. Of course If you're the leader it's a bit of a tougher issue but I hadn't realised half of you were kin leaders. My mistake.

just admit that this website is FUBAR ... the beta tag was a fun tag for a few years on a fully functional GMail, here it's just a joke... the site hasn't changed in about a year, yet retains the beta tag and a complete lack of functionality
That link will then send potential players to the sign-up page and you will get your referrals. Just change it to your forum name and then send it to as many friends as you want
does anybody know when they want to fix it? I am a european player and I like to collect steeds, so I want the possibility to get this.
Turbine should have already fixed this some months/years, but ... gnaa... it's Turbine...

I just cant seem to find a way to refer people at all. I found a page a couple of weeks back but now it's gone and all the dirrect link provided by the community site lead to dead ends. Sad really. I really want my rewards for getting people to play. We should be recompenced.

This is a generic error experienced by all Former EU players in a kin with any kind of age to it. It can be fixed by disbanding and reforming your kin, losing all kin history, of course.
Basically, MyLotRO is broken for all such players, for some reason, which Turbine are unwilling to spend the time to fix. This has been the case since the servers were migrated and nothing will ever change. It's of no importance to them.
In the meantime, we can only hope that people can come up with workarounds for the biggest descrepancies.
Personally, I actually hold out a hope that they will introduce something which creates such a massive 2 tier system of haves and have nots that they are forced to fix the underlying problem.

Oh please don't do that! That's way too much effort, too complicated.
And btw, the fix won't always work.
I took over my girlfriends kin, she left all kins with all chars and it still would not work for her.
Better solution: Read what other people wrote about direct links.

They did weeks ago.
Just don't be logged in when using the direct link, that's important.
