    Mouseturning?

How do I mouseturn effectively? I've been trying, but I just keep running in random directions, or don't get to completely face the freep, and just turn to the right or something. Is there something I'm doing wrong?

Sounds like maybe you just have poor coordination? If your mouse has a scroll button, try setting left scroll and right scroll to strafe left and right. Also set regular scroll to move backwards. Including your scroll key into mouseturning can greatly increase the direction and control of your movement. Hope this helps some.

First off, you need to get your mouse sensitivity and acceleration under control.

Most gamers will disable acceleration completely. If you are running Windows 7: http://www.esreality.com/?a=post&id=1846538

If you don't know what mouse acceleration is, it makes the distance traveled by the mouse dependent on the speed at which you move the mouse. This makes the mouse unpredictable unless you have amazing motor control.

Make sure you have "enhance pointer precision" unchecked under Control Panel > Mouse > Pointer Options as well.

Finally you need to adjust your sensitivity until you feel like you have good control over the camera. I would lower it down dramatically at first, then slowly increase it until the speed feels comfortable.

For LOTRO, right click + hold to remain on target. WASD (QE too) for primary movement.

Use a DPI mouse, and mess with settings in LOTRO and Windows.

Don't give your back to the enemy.

That's how the pros do it.

Lol, I don't even care to redownload the whole client to fix the one corrupted file.

A True Warrior turns with the keyboard

Mouse Turning can however create balance due to lack of skill

I somewhat agree with Purebloodworg above me, even though he is trolling.

People say that Mouse Turners > Keyboard Turners. But I've won lots of 1v1's, and a lot have been mouse turners (GOOD mouse turners).

Just a matter of figuring out how an individual moves. Mouse turners give me their back a lot more often than keyboard turners who know what they are doing. Downside to keyboard turning is that the back exposure is longer if more infrequent, if that makes sense.

It's actually very possible and easy to keyboard turn and still be very effective as a spider. I would know, because I did it with my r7 spider when I'd 1v1 people. I remember 1v1ing Faja/Sinthema, rank 13 LM with like 23k KBs, and I beat him with keyboardturning, lol.

Try it on a reaver, and you won't be so successful

I dont even know how you mouse turners do it. How am I meant to use WASD, all the skill numbers (in gw2) with one hand?

Keybind modifiers . Which aNet implemented this last BWE after a lot of requests for it from tons of players.

I use that, but you can set up your keyboard to get almost the same results. It's a matter of optimizing your finger usage.

    Re: Mouseturning?

meh I don't mouse turn often, I can move my fingers well enough with wasd qe to maneuver i do sometimes mix in mouse turning if things get intense, but i mostly just click my skills with my mouse. I wouldn't really consider it unless I had something awesome like the above photo.

    Re: Mouseturning?

Lol. I have been mouseturning since day 1 in LoTRO, from the time I rolled my first character and was learning how to move in the Archet jail cell.

I mostly use my mouse to steer and my arrows to strafe when I'm running around freely; but when I fight it's all mouse. The other day I tried fighting with only my keyboard and no mouse, and it was like trying to write with my left hand (I'm a rightie).

Just takes practice. It's exactly like writing. Some people are lefties, some people are righties. Some people are keyboard-turners, some people are mouse-turners.

If that's over the top, Taugrim (he played a reaver on Landy way back when) has a good guide for setting up your keyboard: http://taugrim.com/2011/04/07/guide-...d-keybindings/. There's a good tip in the comments, too: replace the space bar with the alt key, so you can hit x, c, v, and b with the thumb.
