    Crafting Professions These Days

Hey, just getting back into Lotro after a -long- hiatus. Last time I played Moria hadn't quite come out! So I always used to go Armourer/Weaponsmith on my "mains" to get some nice shiny equipment.

Apparently though all the expansions have introduced so much god tier loot that making your own stuff at endgame is a bit redundant.

tl;dr any point me going weaponsmith anymore?

    Thanks guys

If you really, really like being a weaponsmith, go for it. However, I tend to pick the crafting professions that make "consumables". Scholars for scrolls and potions, Yoman for food, Tinkerer for hope tokens, etc.

As you say, LI's and loot drops really cuts down on the need for crafting weapons and armor.

    You're a champion right? Yes.
Champions use a lot of weapons right? Yes.
A weapon smith makes weapons right? Yes.
Do champions need the best weapons? Yes.

As a champion, you must must absolutely MUST have the very best weapons at all times. Honestly the quest rewards and the loot that drops for weapons don't cut it. They're at best, sub par, nowhere near as good as the crafted stuff (at least for the first 30 or 40 levels) If your weapon is three or four levels behind you, you're not going to hit as hard and you're not going to kill as fast. If you don't kill as fast you'll probably die.

That being said, yes I agree sometimes crafting and trying to bring it up to the next tier can be soooooo repetitive. As a weapon smith and being that I have a champion, I just go along with it though, I care enough about my champ to try to get the best weapons.

Now if you don't want to craft, then just find a friend who can make them for you, or just buy them in the Auction House (usually overpriced but you can find some good deals here and there.)

If you're up to it though, craft your own stuff, it feels awesome when you make the shiny new sword or axe and it's gone critical and it looks amazing.

    Good luck!

Yeh, I realise at low levels the crafted gear far outstrips anything you can get in rewards. Like Coruven said though, at lv 60-70 odd I hear a lot of the loot (specifically LI's) makes crafted stuff a bit weak.

Saying that I might as well stick with w/s till then anyway since currently the loot/quest drops are awful. Can always make weaps for my alts at higher levels anyway. Thanks guys

Actually I think Champs are more in need of the best armour than the best weapons.

Well, that and - hope tokens

People still need LI's crafted and quite a few classes need off-hand weapons.

Darmokk!! Surprised to see you on my humble server! I usually read your post on that "other" community forum ^_^ Welcome!
