    The Music Thread!

Title says it all; post whatever music that you're into, and perhaps throw in a few links with some of your favourite tracks, and perhaps explain why you like them so much (hopefully i didn't just start a war).

I'll start out with rap! I know this probably isn't the typical "LotRO kind of music!", but we're all different
I'll throw in this track of a friend i that we recently made. It's a bit sad, but it's not the usual kind of "cuss rap"

I like music of all genres. I don't know where to begin but I bought this in 1986 when it first came out. No one really knew about this guy, little radio play, so it was only me listening to it. So it's like my own little secret.

this song is old now, but it's just as cool as it was the day it was recorded

    S.N.F.U., Painful Reminder

The young boy has fallen in love
    With his homeroom teacher
    He has fallen in love

    It happens everyday
    In schools throughout the city
    Throughout the city

She was married, he did learn
    And inside he did burn
    Deep inside he burned

    He vowed that never again
    Would he open his heart
    Open up his heart

And to serve as a reminder
    He painted her a picture
    This painful reminder
And he keeps it in his binder
    This painful reminder

The next day in his art class
He drew a picture of her
    A picture's worth a thousand words
    Even those left unsaid
    Those best left unsaid

Now he walks the halls alone
And it is for the better
    Alone...alone...alone

And he vowed that never again
    Would he open his heart
    Oh no! never again!

And to serve as a reminder...

Pretty easy really. Just click the 'insert video' button(looks like a bit of film) and paste in the URL.

Lit is my long-time favorite band and they are just about to put out a new album.

They're streaming it a day ahead over at AOL Music.

Tell me what you guys think I'm very excited about this! Been waiting for 8 years for some new music from these guys (last record dates from 2004, after which they went through some personal tragedies).

    I'm usually a big metal head/rock,the stones,animals,the usual...

Strangely though,i've been listening to anything by Zola Jesus lately, big fan of hers, maybe because she's so different to what i'm used too.

I've lately been on a Yuki Kajiura kick. I particularly like her compositions that combine rock style with instruments like violin and chimes.

This song is one of my fav's by the Cure

The 80's were so amazing for music.

    Charlotte Sometimes, by R. Smith

    All the faces
    All the voices blur
    Change to one face
    Change to one voice
    Prepare yourself for bed
    The light is bright
    And glares on white walls
    All the sounds of
    Charlotte sometimes
    Into the night with
    Charlotte sometimes
Night after night she lay alone in bed
Her eyes so open to the dark
The streets all looked so strange
    They seemed so far away
    But Charlotte did not cry

    The people seemed so close
    Playing expressionless games
    The people seemed
    So close
    So many
    Other names...

    Sometimes I'm dreaming
Where all the other people dance
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    Charlotte sometimes
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    Expressionless the trance
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    So many different names
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
The sounds all stay the same
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
She hopes to open shadowed eyes
    On a different world
    Come to me
    Scared princess
    Charlotte sometimes

    On that bleak track
(See the sun is gone again)
The tears were pouring down her face
She was crying and crying for a girl
Who died so many years before...

    Sometimes I dream
Where all the other people dance
    Sometimes I dream
    Charlotte sometimes
    Sometimes I dream
The sounds all stay the same
    Sometimes I'm dreaming
    So many different names
    Sometimes I dream
    Sometimes I dream...

    Charlotte sometimes crying for herself
Charlotte sometimes dreams a wall around herself
    But it's always with love
With so much love it looks like
    Everything else
    Of Charlotte sometimes
    So far away
    Glass sealed and pretty
    Charlotte sometimes

My music tastes are wide, but I will introduce only few of the genres I like.
What music I despise? It would be:
    - rap;
    - pop (with some small exceptions eg. Robbie Williams and early Kylie Minogue, not the &&&& they feed us now as if we were brainless);
    - techno;
    - reggae, dance, trance, house, dubstep, screamo, some metal sub-genres, christian music (lol), and many more...
But let's focus on what I love. For now, it will be just four genres:

Rock - and its various sub-genres. I'm into classic rock eg. Led Zeppelin and The Doors, but I'm also into Evanescence, MM and 69 Eyes (goth genres).

    And example of Goth Rock:

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Metal - in various forms of course. Among these are Thrash Metal, Heavy Metal, Groove Metal and even Death Metal. I'm into classic metal eg. Metallica and Iron Maiden, but I cherish modern metal music as well. Among the modern bands are 2cents, All That Remains, Devildriver, Slipknot and many more.

    - Two examples of Death Metal:

All That Remains - This Calling http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=raRHUG0PkQU

    - And here's a piece of Heavy/Groove Metal:

Five Finger Death Punch - Never Enough http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Dn3wM6Rxpik

    - And one example of Heavy Metal at its finest:

    2cents - The Distance Travelled - http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TAY3ajyb0k4

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Aggrotech/TBM/Dark Electro - those genres are usually mixed together into one. I'm new into this music so I will give an example of only one band there - Combichrist.

    Combichrist - I'm Happy Anyway http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=9e9MM2EfWYM

    -----------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Folk (Death)Metal - Can't describe my love for this genre. Ever thought of a combination of Death Metal with flutes, bagpipes, violins? My words may not sound so good... the music does.

    Eluveitie - A Rose for Epona http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mtMG9VDMk70

Am I the only one around here that likes classical mussic?

I know it needs the pic, but I fail at making those.

BTW, this has so many Youtube links that it lags alot when scrolling and loading.
