15. Does my War-steed level up? (FAQ)
Yes. Your War-steed gains steed experience in a variety of ways and as you level you earn trait points that you can spend to advance the skills and traits that best suit your play style in mounted combat.
Don't know if this was discussed before,
But looks pretty same to me, or at least heading in that direction?
It all depends on whether or not our war steeds will be useful beyond L85, and whether we'll ever have to start from scratch with them. I see them more like skirmish soldiers than LIs at the moment, but we won't know more until they tell us.
Work like no one is watching, dance like you don't need the money...
7. Can I have more than one War-steed?
No. Players get one War-steed that they advance and customize through the course of the mounted combat experience.
Yup, came in to say that it's a lot closer to a skirm soldier than a LI. You get one horse and you level it up from the start to where you want it to get (through talent trees and so), you don't just throw it away when a "better" horse appears.
Hmm didn't think of that , good point about it being closer to a skirmish soldier
but ...
11. Do I have to fight from horseback?
To a limited extent, yes. Many of the opponents you encounter in the plains of Rohan will be mounted and an unmounted combatant will find combat more difficult against mounted opponents. Mounted combat is likely to be incorporated into parts of the epic quest line so in the course of completing that content, you will spend a moderate amount of time fighting from horseback. There may also be some optional quests that can only be completed with the extra speed and agility you will have when riding your War-steed.
12. Is all my combat in this expansion done from horseback?
No. Some areas (dense enemy war-camps, Fangorn, Amon Hen) and many quests will function just like they do now. While you can choose to fight opponents from an un-mounted position you will be at a disadvantage when fighting mounted opponents.
In some areas you are forced to use the War-Steed.
The Landscape soldier is TP only so I don't see them forcing you to use him/her.
And Skirmish soldier is helpful but not a strict requirement for on lvl T1 skirmishes.

... but yea too early to tell for sure!
Hmmmm, I know that by now WB/Turbine cares very little for Logic or Lore but I'd make an argument that if a Minstrel can play while riding or an RK can scribe then we can surely do it in Medium Armor. The whole "logic"* behind the classes' armor restrictions based on range of motion is kind of broken if suddenly we can do it on horse back.
"Logic" to make the narrative consistent, in reality it is for balance issues going to back to the old DND days.

Good point.
Will war steeds 'grow with us'? Or will we have to 'decon' them at a horsemaster and start leveling a new war steed? Will the new war steeds inherit the traits and trait points that we have unlocked? Will the horseshoes give us back relics on reforge? How about war steed armor, is it transferrable?
They could easily make war steeds just as complicated and grind orientated as lengendary items. Most likely scenario is that they'll start out simpler but then get more complicated with each update.

even Blizzard, who invented them (well, Diablo 2 was the first i ever saw them in a game) has scrapped this idea for a more LOTRO traiting system in Diablo 3.
the "trait" system allows for much more customization!
oh, please no skill trees!
