This game has the MOST lost potential of any game that I can think of, in my opinion. Admittedly I uninstalled as soon as I got out of the starting area.
The game makes the WORST impression ever with terrible quality pixelated ui on the character and login screen even on 1920x1080, which makes the player immediately think "if they can't be bothered to fix this, then what must the game be like?" and also hints at the fact that there is no option for high resolution at all.
The music is poor and not suitable to the lord of the rings universe.
How can a game supossedly "based" on the greatest lore and high fantasy world ever created be so dull? Everquest 2 feels more like a Lord of the Rings game than this! It's true!
The textures are so inconsistent for example the symbols above npcs heads have a fixed resolution so when you draw nearer they become incredibly pixelated or the ground will be about 1pixel pre mile with a pillar touching it that is quite high res. It is not "bad" graphics that have given me this negative reaction, it's the inconsistency.
THE biggest turn off for me was when I saw the faces of the npc female elves and they were actually more compelling than my own character! desite being very poor quality and without even eyelids, christ even wow has eyelids!
The biggest thing is most of these problems could be fixed so easily, just pay some mod creator a couple quid and its would be sooo much better!
Considering nearly every fantasy mmo out there has been heavily influence by Lord of the Rings, then how is this such a mess?
Massively poorly executed, some of the other fundemental gameplay elements will probably be ok but I will never know, because Im not going to persevere through this upseting, insulting and ghastly take on middle-earth.
For the record my reasons are;
1. It doesn't feel even remotely like Lord of the Rings. Epic fail.
2. The interface and graphics are completely inconsistent, for which there is NO excuse, whatever performance limitations you are working to.
3. Unappealing models for characters, buildings etc.
4. Hobbits aren't always fat in the books, they are just small and stubby, the films do justice to this. They look like dwarves in the game.
5. The text used is also not easy to read and takes up large portions of the screen.
[EDIT: Also, no wizards?? Really? Couldn't they at least let us be wizardsss?!]

Although there is truth in many of your facts .... you understood nothing. Wizzards <--> LotR, you serious? Naming yourself TolkienMan gives it a baaad taste.
And they made a lot out of the lore, just give it a try for more than 4 hours in the starting areas.
My graphics are not pixelated in this game. In fact, it's one of the better looking MMO's in my opinion. Me-thinks your setup might be the issue and not the game. And there are definitely high-resolution options. Again, your setup?

first of all... wizards? if you are really as much of a LOTR (or other Tolkien's work) fan as you want us to believe, you should know that there is no such thing as thousands of wizards walking around Middle Earth.
and this game has one of the best MMO graphics out there. I honestly don't know where you saw any pixelated parts.
lastly, by just finishing the starter areas you can have absolutely no clue about the actual gameplay and/or the lore (and how the original LOTR lore was implemented in the game itself) and therefore don't have the right of trolling on our forums.
Yeah think it must be settings based. Ive been playing this game for over four years, and am always amazed at it. You cant really judge a game by the hour? maybe you spend in the starting instance. And wizards? If you were such a huge fan you'd know that the Wizards are essentially Gods, and there were only ever five of them. Might as well play a Dragon, there were more of those, or why not just let everyone be a Dark Lord?
Seriously though, youre missing out. The world the developers have created is amazing. Every time I go into Moria its like the first time.
if you have the hardware, use the correct settings and install the highres client lotro is one of the most visualy stunning mmos there is

this all sounds to me like your settings are set way to low and or your hardware is not capable of at least the most basic functions of most modern graphics cards
pixilation for one is caused by at least 2 things,
1 your running lotro at settings bellow medium lower quality does improve performance yes but it also decreases texture quality,
2 you also either have a graphics card which is not capable of anastropic filtering or AF is switched off or too low, even with high quality textures you will still see pixilation if AF is set bellow 2x or set to off. the pixilation becomes worse the lower the quality of your textures. pixilation is also less noticable if you enable antialiasing
lotro is available with highres textures, if you download directly from link given after signing up then this will give you the standard res client. the highres client can be found here http://www.lotro.com/support/download-lotro
or downloaded via steam

yes some of the models especialy characters are not as good as they could be

no can do, that would be asking too much, wizards are a rare race turbine were allow to make a few exceptions for loremaster and runekeeper which are the closest lotro will get to a wizard like class
I find it interesting that you come to the forum to let everybody know that you don't like the game. I got interested in the forum after I had played the game for while, and not before... So - well, just thought that's curious enough to be worth mentioning...
I guess most people here like Lotro a lot, and most people here are players who have made it way past character creation. What can I say...? I love the game, love the sound, and think my hobbit looks great. Tastes are different, so it's good that there are more games out there to choose from.

Ever heard of GANDALF?
How is my forum tag relevant? And no I won't give it another try because ill barf all over my keyboard.
I bet you like SWToR better as SWG.
Because more shiny.
But you dont care the gameplay.
Better if you leave, Bye bye!
Really? Better if I leave? I'm a lotr fan and I wanted to like this game, how many people would you say that its better if they left to? Also I don't like SWTOR because that is a horrible representation of the great star wars universe much like this is of lotr.

Setups fine. Yes its true there are high res options, i should have clarified - the "high res" options do not deliver high res texure and ui elements for everything.

First, I'm not trolling this is my honest "First Impression". Yes I am aware there are only like five wizards but soo, it would be cool to partake in some of the more interesting cannon and play as an awesome wizard. It is simply a lie to say this game has one of the best mmo graphics out there.
Also yes, fair point I haven't played it much but it's just not a great first impression.

Ok I have maxed basically all graphic settings, I don't have the best card but it's capable enough (GTS250). The high-res texture sound very interesting and perhaps this could be the problem and the antialiasing cos i did have that off. Thanks for the screenshots, they look better than my experience. Useful reply.
The fact that you ask that shows how much you don't understand about Tolkien's work, to be honest.
No it doesn't. The fact that they've made a ton of allowances using their artistic license I don't see why we can't be the coolest heroes in middle-earth.

Yes we have heard of Gandalf, and what's more, read his words, researched Tolkien's own notes on the lore of Middle Earth and found that guess what? Tolkein insists that there are no wizards! I suggest that you trot off to World of Warcraft or some other kiddies MMO as you are obviously not interested in one that actually is based on Tolkein's work!

Good luck in finding one that you like!
Well thanks for being so amicable. I think the reason I came to the forums was because I felt so strongly about the wasted opportunity and I really want a good lotr game. Also I saw a "first impressions" forum.
